I think PS3 download was 183mb not quite as excessive.
As for the update, I'm loving it, The 2 bikes are a nice update, both feel very different, but both are good fun, though shame now boost bar to add some major insanity, Also no real power sliding to be done.
Could do with some CPU bike racers, and crash view would be better following the riders path to oblivion in a crash.
But these are only minor niggles and with a bit of luck Criterion will expand upon this update in the future.
As for the Day/Night and weather cycles they really make it feal like a different game and have been implamented very nicely.
As already said, good going on the free updates, If only more devs would follow suit.

Turns out due to issues with the trophy / game save system trophies wont be retro active.
On one hand I'm annoyed as were promissed and put a lot of time into unlocking stuff ready, On the other hand In a few months time when I'm bored of everything else I may be tempted to start again.
Maybe.
Still annoyed though, grrrrr, Angry face.

While I think its awesome that they're putting so much effort into supporting the game with this free stuff, It's also a bit annoying because I've been waiting until all the announced DLC is out before I buy it again, and here they go announcing another 4 packs.MikeHaggar wrote:More updates coming:

Oh, and:

8 player pass-the-controller mode then. We're finally ready to unveil the first in a wide range of new Burnout Paradise content for 2009.
Our first pack of the year will be called Burnoutâ„¢ Paradise Party.
Burnout Paradise is an awesome social game, but the action's all online. With Party, we wanted to create something for when all the players are in one place – gathered around a single screen.
There are 3 types of challenge to take on – Stunt, Speed and Skill. Stunt involves jumps and tricks. Speed features quick time trials and timed challenges. Skill includes racing through oncoming traffic and drifting your car.
there are extra trophies and achievements available within this pack.
You'll be able to purchase this awesome premium Burnout Paradise content from February 2009.
Oh, and:

today we're announcing Burnout™ Paradise: The Ultimate Box – a new packaged game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and for the first time ever – on the PC! That's right, PC players will finally be able to experience a Burnout game, and we've been working hard to make sure it's something very special indeed.
The Ultimate Box will be available in Feb 2009 and will contain the original Burnout Paradise, including Codenamed Cagney and Burnout Bikes, and also Burnout Paradise Party plus a mountain of new refinements.

So, the new island is no longer going to be free, then. I was kind of expecting that to be honest, as soon as they announced the premium stuff.
While the game was techically great, and the support Criterion is giving it after release is to be applauded, for me it just wasn't that good a game. It got old and repetetive really fast, and the stuff they're delivering via DLC doesn't really address that for me.

Developer Criterion has revealed that the next DLC pack for its racer Burnout Paradise will see the addition of cops and robbers-style chases.
The premium DLC, titled the "Cops and Robbers Pack," will bring the "thrills and spills of cops and robbers car chases in Paradise City." The pack is set to be released following the already-announced Party Pack, Legendary Cars, Toy Cars and Boost Specials updates.
