Calm down people. This comment was made on the back of the sales of 'No More Heroes' in Japan. Sales in the US and Europe could yet render this comment irrelevant.

It really is up to the Wii owners. If they want good games, they have to go out and buy them.

It would be predictable of me to have a pop at Nintendo at this so I am not. I'm going to shut up and allow the Wii to speak for itself.

However, I will raise this one (vaguely) related question: why the hell did Capcom shut down Clover and not Suda51/Grasshopper?

Both studios release fairly obscure 'arthouse' games - Clover's being Okami and Viewtiful Joe; Grasshopper's being Killer7 and Contact but at least Clover's games were actually fun.

No More Heroes is one of the most interesting Wii titles out there at the moment, but if it turns out anything like Killer7 I think quite a few people will be disappointed.

Okay, i deserved that

What i ment to say was:

The quality of the 3rd party titles in general are alot lower than inhouse games. I had a Wii but sold it due to the lack of games that appealed to me, most of the multi-platform games are much better on PS3/Xbox (FIFA, Guitar Hero III etc) and the Nintendo games are too far and few between (plus most of the launch titles are gamecube remakes).

Alot of people I know who have Wii's and don't normally game are more than happy just playing Wii Sports all the time, I really see the Wii taking a nose dive in a year or two

Even the Japs are starting to show less intrest in the Wii

Japanese Look At Video-Games Before Prices: Survey -AFP

January 17, 2008: 05:05 AM EST

TOKYO (AFP)--Japanese video-game lovers choosing a console care more about the games they want to play than the price, with Nintendo's (7974.OK) Wii so far holding an edge in coolness, a survey said Thursday.

The poll of 3,422 gamers by product pricing site kakaku.com found that 49.2% said their top concern for picking a console was "because it's compatible with the games they absolutely want to play."

Nearly 43% of others said they wanted to buy the console that's most talked about, with a mere 6.1% foremost concerned about price.

Asked which machines they owned, one-quarter said the Wii, the popular Nintendo home console with an innovative motion-sensitive controller, and another quarter had the Nintendo DS double-screen portable machine.

Only 10% had the PlayStation 3, even though Sony Corp. (6758.TO) invested heavily in advanced graphics for the next-generation machine, which is more expensive than the rival Wii.

Another 10% picked Sony's PlayStation Portable. The XBox 360 of U.S. computer giant Microsoft (MSFT) has struggled to seduce Japan, with only 3% of gamers saying it was their pick.

But asked which console they hoped to buy next, 28% chose the Wii and 27% picked the PlayStation 3.

The figures were in line with actual sales figures. Nintendo has sold some 3.63 million Wii units last year in Japan, while Sony sold 1.21 million PlayStation 3 machines. Both machines were launched at the end of 2006.

The Japanese have bought a mere 260,000 XBox 360 units since its launch by Microsoft at the end of 2005.

I don't think grasshopper are owned by capcom. Only those two titles mentioned are published by capcom.

It's an independent development studio? Ah, that explains it.
