Sonic & The Secret Rings
Sonic & The Secret Rings
Well I saw it in Game, and thought my Wii was underused ATM soI took the risk to buy this today, and I'm happy to say I did. Aside from some shit music, It's actually pretty good. Great Graphics and Level design. It seems the developers actually remembered what made Sonic good in the 1st place.
Anyone else got this.
Anyone else got this.
Perhaps not surprisingly, I got this yesterday, but I haven't even taken it out of the case yet!
Partly because I've been addicted to Koroinpa, but mainly because I'm treading towards a new Sonic game with a huge ammount of trepidation.
I lost interest years ago, but I'm willing to give this a chance. Hopefully, I'll have time to give it bash shortly.

i was thinking of getting this tomorrow, is it any good?? i got the 360 sonic and it was awful really put me off sonic as the last few have been a diaster, although i did like rush on the DS but the other 3d games just havent done it for me!
The choice is excite truck or sonic for the wii, should i stick to excite truck or will sonic surprise me??!!

If you cant ride it, it cant be fun!!
Re:
Well this is completely different from the other 3D Sonic games. It's basically on rails, with a bit of freedom of movement. It brings back the spirit of the 2D games, with the fast and ferocious levels. The camera is awesome and the graphics are the best on the Wii so far.manicm wrote:i was thinking of getting this tomorrow, is it any good?? i got the 360 sonic and it was awful really put me off sonic as the last few have been a diaster, although i did like rush on the DS but the other 3d games just havent done it for me!

Stick with Excite Truck. I've played Sonic a fair bit now and I'm really not that keen on it.manicm wrote: The choice is excite truck or sonic for the wii, should i stick to excite truck or will sonic surprise me??!!
It promises much, but falls down on several parts. If they took off the RPG-esque levelling system (like, WTF?) and focussed on giving you several massive set-pieces to give you a big rollercoaster type experience, it would be great.
There's too much stopping and starting, frustrating parts where you'll die (a lot), and he takes ages to accelerate.

Although i did have one problem, the wii had a disc read error, first time ive seen this, so tried the disc on my other wii and still didnt work, had to take the game back to hmv but the replaced without question, but to mention another topic they only had unsealed copies and i hate that about buying games just lately

Hmmm.
I really couldn't recommend either game!
Red Steel isn't shit, but neither is it great. Definately average - buy it if you see it cheap
I really can't comment on the minigames of Sonic, only played it one player so far.
If any Wii owners are wondering when the great games are coming, you've obviously missed Excite Truck and Kororinpa - both truly awesome games, but they'll probably both be over-looked.
I can't recommend Koroinpa enough.

I was given Sonic and the Secret Rings for my birthday.
Single player is so-so. I've yet to really 'click' with it.
But at the weekend three friends and I discovered the multi-player party mode. If you have a group of four, it's great (sub-four, it makes up players with computer controlled ones and it's annoying). Mini games a la SMB (except better), and they're structured into a larger game. Smacks of Mario Party.
Some of the mini games cause absolute hilarity in a group and we were all getting far too competitive.
