Just finishing off \"White Noise\" by Don DeLillo, which I really haven't enjoyed much, but the end is in sight so might as well keep going.

Started reading \"Unspeak\" by Stephen Poole which looks pretty fascinating- it's an examination of the rhetoric and language used in modern day media, especially by politicians- but also requires you pay a bit of attention when reading it, so to balance it out I've picked up \"Cell\" by Stephen King as well so my brain doesn't hurt too much.

Also finished \"Mr. Paradise\" by Elmore Leonard last week. Amazing that after so many years and so many novels, the guy is still at the top of his game. And his use of street slang and pop culture references never feel forced or awkward. Great stuff.

I'm currently working my way through George Macdonald Fraser's Flashman series, which are great entertainment. I see there's a new Carl Hiaasen book out too so that'll be next.

Just finished readiong The adventures of Sherlock Holmes and found it to be very readable. This series of short stories is good as I often get inturupted while i'm reading.

Just Starting on So long and thanks for all the fish, by Douglas Adams.

The last one I read was The System of The World by Neal Stephenson, it's the 3rd of 3 volumes in 'The Baroque Cycle' - 3000 pages of historic fiction mixed in with science politics and good old adventure. Great stuff

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the Chester Himes novels. My mum had a bunch of them with these really cool 70s photo covers on them.

Yeah, it's a great book. But I found it really hard to imagine the main character as being anything but Jack Nicholson! Which isn't bad, but I wonder how I would have viewed the book in my head if I hadn't seen the movie.

Just started reading Casino Royale, realised I had never actually read any Bond. It's pretty good, quite cold hearted and brutal in places. And because there have been so many Bonds, I don't really imagine any of them in the main role.

I heard there is a bit in the book where he gets his nuts beaten by a midget with a club, then some nurse says something like, "Oh I bet you can't perform now", so to prove her wrong, they have sex. Is this true  I've read some strange books in my time, but that's just
