Gamesradar forums...

Post by Eberron » Fri Feb 23, 2007 11:15 am

Have any of you had the unpleasentness of posting in that particular games forum? The reason I ask is that I never come across such a bunch of stuck up, arrogant, elitest idiots in my time as a games forum poster.

I always thought that forums were for discussion, but at Gamesradar if you voice an opinion that doesn't fall in with the common train of thought there you're imeadiately bombared with naught but abuse and insults and then rudely asked to leave.

I was chased out not to long ago, (user name Stormreach), but seeing that the Mods there had put up a few threads explaining the rules of Trolling/Baiting/Baiting and Personal insults I thought that a few heads had rolled and the place had grown up somewhat. How wrong was I? Its worse than ever. Say, (what they consider to be), the wrong thing and you end up getting attacked from all angles by these little \"gangs\" of people, mods included.

A horrible, unwelcoming and unpleasent place that should be avoided by open minded gamers everywhere.

Anyway, this seems like a more pleasent place so I'll post here.

Whats funny is the poor git was constantly acused of being me on the GR forum. Sorry about that Eberron.

I was always accused of trolling in GR-or not thinking too much of the Nintendo Wii, which constitues as 'trolling' within the pages of Gamesradar. Naturally I just lept on the chance to give them what they wanted and have a bit of fun with the retards that frequent that place. Got banned eventually, but it was entertaining while it lasted. Yes, you're right Eberron, the place is very unfriendly to those who aren't afraid to voice an opinion or think for themslves and not follow the crowd like sheep. Why do you think there's hardly any regular new posters there apart from the small clique already in place?

Anyway, whilst this place does have its moments, its alot better here.

Since the spam has died we've been getting a lot new regulars on here. I put it solely down to my modding prowess (and Bobs) and my new responsibility has made me grow up somewhat and stop upsetting people!! :)

Funny thing is they still do. Nevermind.

To be fair I hardly ever saw you post there. Strikes me that the clique at Gamesradar, once they have it in for you, don't let go. Very childish. I can only assume that the majority of posters there are of a very young age, (no offence to the younger members here of course).

The biggest offender there has to be that Invincible fellow. I never seen anyone get away with such horrible torrids of abuse, flaming, baiting and trolling. Even when he called a mod an "utter fu*king w*nker" just because he commented on his Japanese sales thread, he wasn't banned. What a bizzare place that is. :?

Anyway, I've got to get back to work. Bye for now.

Ahh, Invincible. Yes, he's a character, hates me needless to say.

(for the rest of you who haven't been to GR and come across him, he's a total wierdo, one actaully lives for that place. Very strange man with some deep seeded issues  )

Oh no, the mods won't ban Invincible, not GR's most vocal and outspoken Nintendo fanboy, most are too afraid of the whirlwind of abuse they'll recieve from his loyal [Nintendo] fans, some of whom are mods.

Enjoy yourself here mate, you can actually have an opinion here without the backlash.

I've started coming to these forums more n more now. I've been a regular on another IP forum and recently got promoted to mod, but I've been finding that that's been turning into a forum of "if you don't agree with our opinion, you're gonna get flamed" :(

So I'm slowly weening myself off those forums and heading over here........and I think a few others are slowly joining me :)

Nice to find what appears to be a mature, fun forum that values everyone's opinion and is open to discussion :)

I think a little covert mission to the Games Radar forums could be fun, you know lay a few traps and cause a bit of upset.

Damn, that sounds a bit harsh. The whole point of forums is to put across your own personal viewpoint on a particular matter. We all have our own opinion, that other people won't share, but to be acused of 'trolling' for it,well, that sucks.

Anyway, welcome aboard Eberron, feel free to say anything you like.I always do : Jaffa Cakes :D

This invincible character sounds like he should be taken down a few pegs. I think your suggestion is a great idea. If we all go over their, make a bit of a nuissance of ourselves over some comments that invincible makes and see how many of us can get banned? Im in.
Count me in too.

The only problem is that when I was a regular at the C&VG boards, we did the same thing to the Gamezville boards. It turned out that I actually grew to like it. It had a lot of intelligent and mature members amongst the immature idiots and I eventually became a Mod, a Super Mod and then an Admin on the replacement forum (after the original was shut down)

I hope the same doesn't happen this time around :?

There also on 1up.com, well there on any American video game forum. This is one of the reasons I decide to post on these boards.
