When will it ever end?

Post by DADDYCOOL » Sun Jan 21, 2007 6:38 pm

Yup Videogames has been a big part of my life since i was a nipper, now im 31 and still enjoying them as much as i did during the 80's.

I know there quite a few peeps on here around the same age as i am, still with the same amount of enthusiasim...... but what about your 40's,? 50's? Hell my Father in law has an Xbox at 60!

Seriously though can you guys see yourself at a midnight launch for say a Playstation20 or Nintys new mind controlled console at say 70?

Id like to think i would, providing bladder and mind was still sound.

I thought that was the basic premise for the GamesTM forum.

I have always been a gamer and always will be. I don't think age is much of a factor particularly with blokes, since most of us hit 16 and pretty much stay there, bewildered as we watch our bodies sprout an ever increasing carpet of hair, and then gently fall apart over the next 6 decades.

LOL yeah Smurph and Papa would still shout at each other!
A games room in a retirement home with table top Scramble and Space invader machines! With a cup of tea and a eccles cake on each one!

Thats how i would like to spend my latter days!

all the games would need to be magnified and deafening loud-ohhh fun!

And i suppose you would still chuck hand grenades at walls?

Could you imagine what it would be like to loose your sight or marbles?
old age=no gaming

There are times when I think I need to stop my gaming addiction, or at least cutting down, in order to spend more time sorting out the other duties in my life but in all honestly I can’t see it happening. There was a brief period during the summer of 2001 when I completely lost interest in gaming, nothing caught my attention and I couldn’t care less about what games were released, but that period (known as the dark era) has so far been a one off and something I hope never to repeat. In a perfect world, as long as my hands and eyes work, I want to be gaming until the death bed but I think things may have to change once we start having kids. I mean the little buggers will expect to play them too and I know I can’t keep my stash hidden away from them forever.

Forget sharing, I’m not doing that, they can buy their own game machines but chances are that I’ll have them first anyway!
a computer once beat me at chess but it was no match for me at kickboxing

been gaming for 20 years, and have no intention of stopping.Even though i've got slight rsi in both hands from typing my essays,i still get some gaming in :D
people do fall out of gaming though,my mate who i've known for 10 years, and who i got mates with through talking about arcade games, barely plays anything other than the occasional session of Beatmania.Me,i can't imagine that, can't beat a good gaming session :)

Just when I think I'm drifting away from gaming, something re-awakens my interest! I remember I went through a period of 2-3 years as a student when gaming took a back-seat in my life and I didn't play games much. Maybe it was the alcohol. Or the women. But definitely not the workload!

I think the PlayStation got me into gaming again in a big way, so I have Sony to thank for that.

Another gamer actually said to me today "You spend way too much money on games". Although that's not the same as spending too much time I guess it's just as bad. Also, it didn't help coming from another gamer.

By the time of Playstation 20 the hardware will be teleported to your house. Unfortunatly Game will **** up the pre orders yet again and it will cause riots across the world.

on the gadget show they did an experiment where they dressed the one presenter up to show him as a 70 year old, and the only games console he could play was a 360, seems the pad was perfect for us oldies as we game into our pensionable ages!! it gives the right vibrations and the right colours on the pads for our aging eyes to recognise and also the hd graphics help a bit too!!

ive been gaming for 20 years and hope to for many more to come!!
If you cant ride it, it cant be fun!!

Unless the missus has her way, will be gaming well into the future. What I wonder is if I'll get more into Retro as I get older, or keep up with the new games?

I'll still be playing as long as I have my sight and my reactions

My Dad is nearly 60, he has a Wii and a 360. He's a big fan of Zelda and Pro Evo.

He can't get his head(or his fingers) around FPS games it's painful to watch him running forward while looking at the ground, then looking at the sky, then running in circles on the spot.....

The Xbox Live nights may be slightly more fractured, what with all the toilet breaks we'll be needing, let's hope they sort out the lobby for Call of Duty 33, because that 30 seconds that 3 gives is barely enough time now!!! It's either that or we all sit on commodes while playing.
