Still didn’t get the ‘true’ boss, though. You can tell by my score that by the end of the run it was all going drastically wrong, but watch me Ultra instinct some of this shit it is insane :o

I unlocked a new weapon for grazing a 100,000 bullets! I don’t even know what that means or how I did it.

I gave it a quick go. I don’t know. It seems to do heavy damage but it’s also purple, and all the enemy lasers are purple so I assume that was on purpose.

Set a new high score on medium difficulty. What’s crazy is in the same run I actually already set a new high score of 47 million something, but I died and my score reset and then I still went and beat it again. Crazy.

'Grazing' is the act of flying very closely past enemy bullets which also builds up your special bar.

So for me this easily the hardest part of the game. Evidenced by the fact that I die twice in 30 seconds. But look at the luck I had as well with the dodging that couldn’t be any more accident/luck :lol:

Let the record be fucking known, dude, not only did I bust my top score and get 119 million (Top right number) But then I got a game over and on level 4 or 5 (I can never tell) I played so fucking well I almost beat it again in one level (Top left number). Whoooo that was pure fucking fire.

Shame the last couple of bosses just end my shit over and over again as usual but man was I in the zone just then. I couldn’t even record any of it because take your eyes of your ship for one second and it is toast.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I hope they bring this game to PS4 at some point so I can make a proper video. Holy shit.

Although I guess I just learned that 100 million is not the same as a billion because I didn’t unlock one of the few final weapons by cracking a billion points.

Was I really over 10x away?

Regardless. More to work for.

You know, at this rate this will be my GotY. Unless Spider-Man is awesome or a Red Dead really surprises me and blows me away there isn’t anything else I have enjoyed this much this year that wasn’t a second release

Well broke my top score and got a 182 million points which is a massive jump above my previous score. However when I got to the 4th boss I just got creamed and gave up. He has this particular attack pattern where not only are there so many bullets forming almost literal ‘lanes’ on screen that you have to be in, but also he has lasers that shoot up those lanes from the bottom of the screen so you have to move back and forth between the lanes to be safe. And it is pretty doable, I’ve done really well before. The problem is just finding the right groove for it. Once tou’re in a lane, then you are ok and can just move back and forth. But finding one to start with is so difficult. I lost my top score on that and just gave up.

Sigh. I also got really cocky the other day and ecided to play on hard. Man, if that is not a whole new level of nut kicking.

So over the past 2 days I have discovered a secret. For most of the bullets that are shot they are always aimed at your position at where you were when they were fired. And because they’re pretty small you only have to tap yourself out of the way. I know when you hear it sounds obvious but it’s really hard not to just keep moving all the time, when really you only want to move when you have to. Best bet is you don’t want to move at all. It’s more about not moving the stick then moving it.

Which leads me to the second thing I’ve discovered. The D-pad. If you want subtle movements, then this is the key. Just tap and your ship moves like just a bit wider than a standard bullet so it makes it much easier to avoid lots of straight forward fire.

The downside if not straight forward fire. When you aren’t just after little specific movements to stay to the side, but when you are trying to make big movements, the d-pad just feels slower than the stick. Also the time it takes for the thumb to move from left to right is much slower than the stick. But the stick is a lot more reckless and when I’m trying to get beside something I do find myself just flying straight into instead because I pushed a bit too far.

I haven’t tied it on the later levels yet, and it will need some practice. But I think the D-pad is the way to go
