GDQ18

Post by maf-me-quick » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:26 am

Anyone watching this stuff?

I watched Ninja Gaidan Black and that was really fun. Now watching a guy speed run Pikmin 3. Damn this is a good game, I had forgot. And I’m always intrigued by people who speed run games that just do not see, suitable for speedruns

No. Watching the World Cup as that's proper manly spectator stuff.

Nerds.

Got it

This Pikmin 3 Run is making me want to give that 3DS Pikmin game they made a go. I know it will be bad but it is sitting there so I should at least give it a look

I've had it on in the background the last few days. I sort of watched some of a Rise of the Tomb Raider run and I can't believe how much jank is in that game that can be exploited. Games like the 3D Sonic games you know they're gonna exploit a bunch of glitches but they even seem to find them in games that are generally solid.

Currently, there is a game called A Story About My Uncle on and I've never heard of it before. It's basically a first-person platformer based entirely around the Blue Star mechanic from the Mario Galaxy games. I think it's one of those Computer Games built more or less for speedrunning like Cloudbuilt.

I've been following GDQ for like five years and always enjoy it. I just find all the different types of speedrunning fascinating: the insane feats of skill some require, the knowledge of being able to exploit glitches to being able to manipulate RNG to speedrun JRPGs.

I only knew the World Cup was on when I went to the corner shop and a couple of red blokes in shorts and t-shirts were talking about it.

I does sound interesting. I think when I get a bit more time once WC games reduce I might go back n watch some runs. Think I saw a site somewhere that has them all recorded.

I think one of my favourites is a runner I think called Half Coordinated does a Vanquish speedrun a few years ago. He has a disability where he can't use one of his hands very much and he does the run one-handed. He's been on a number of times usually running games by Platinum. I've not seen him yet this year but I could have just missed it. I'll flick through the YouTube channel after its over to see if he turned up cos he's quite an entertaining guy as well.

I’ve been watching for less than a year and my fav streamer was either the guy who did Bloodborne or the guy who did Resident Evil 7 Madhouse Difficulty, both of which were last year.

Now I’m watching Axiom Verge. Watching people play these games just makes me want to play these games. Axiom Verge is so good

Fucking Sonic Spinball

Argh, the bad memories. Judging by the commentary I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only person who had a super hard time with this game growing up

Every time I watch it live they're running something I've not played yet but want to :(

Oh, and the Sonic 3 & Knuckles run was awesome. So much screen wrapping.

I didn’t watch the Sonic 3 one yet. The Sonic 2 one was really good, though. Like, they play that game so fast, at speeds I never, ever could approach I can’t even tell if that’s the intended way to play. I assume it is for the most part (Skips, aside) but they just find routes through these levels my little brain would never piece together.

They have a Kid Chamelon one Imwant to watch soon but that game is very scary hopefully it’s fast

I was watching someone do a warpless run of New Super Mario Bros 2 and it both looked better than I remembered it being but also I could not recall a single thing about that game apart from coins everywhere.
