Deep Ones is a retro arcade-platformer with multi-genre parts, inspired by ZX Spectrum and works of H. P. Lovecraft.

The main protagonist of this story suffers a crash on his submarine. The great red octopus is the reason of this, his will of destroying every traveler that he encounters may seem unbeatable, but Diver isn't exactly as simple as he looks.

He is encouraged to walk along the bottom of the ocean, plunge into the depths of the darkest corners, to rip and tear through the thick plants of sea weed and fight with the most unknown creatures of the world that is beneath, just to get his submarine back in his command. On his path, he will witness many beautiful landscapes of the scenery and will acquire many trustworthy allies, all of which will also enrich his stories that will be worthy of telling about... That is, of course, if you'll be able to help him survive and triumph over the evil.

Sega wants in on the “classic edition” action for the Mega Drive’s 30’s anniversary

To commemorate the console’s upcoming 30th anniversary, Sega took the opportunity to unveil its own miniature “classic edition” version of the legendary 16-bit Genesis (or, as it was called in the rest of the world, the Mega Drive).

The so-called “Mega Drive Mini” will be released in 2018, in Japan at least, Sega announced at a fan event today.

Sega is bringing a line of retro games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star and Thunder Force 4, to Nintendo Switch.

The company announced the new initiative, which will be released under the Sega Ages label, during a Sega fan event in Japan today.

More than fifteen titles will be released under the new Sega Ages lineup, though only three titles were confirmed at today’s event.

Studio M2, which was responsible for previous Sega re-releases like the 3D Classics Collection for Nintendo 3DS and the Sega Ages series for PlayStation 2, is behind the Switch Sega Ages titles. M2’s involvement is good news for fans of classic Sega games; the developer’s work on restoring and emulating 8-bit and 16-bit games is unparalleled.

Today, Atari announced that its upcoming hardware platform, the Atari VCS, will be available to pre-order starting on May 30, 2018.

Exclusive to Indiegogo, you’ll be able to put money down on one of two different colorways for the Atari VCS; the Onyx version features a simple black finish, while the retro-inspired Collector’s Edition features a wood-front, not unlike the iconic Atari 2600. The latter will be available for a limited time.

Early-bird packages, which includes the Onyx version for $199 USD, will be available for a limited time. Packages that include the joystick and the controller will also be offered. Prices for the new platform after the early-bird pre-sale, as well as prices for the accessories, are still unknown.

Additionally, if you signed up for “insider” email alerts on the official website before May 24, you’ll also receive special offers for the pre-sale.

Revealed in March, the Atari VCS will not only let you play classics such as Asteroids, Missile Command, and Centipede but will also feature new games and streaming content options. The press release states that a “full range of popular titles” will be announced later.

The first shipments of the Atari VCS are slated for Spring 2019.

8) nice hope you like it, I only played the C64 a couple of times back then (when I visited posh friends who dads had cash to spare).

Anyway this kinda fits here...

Coleco Evolved Mini Arcades Fully Funded On Kickstarter

A Coleco Evolved Mini Arcades Kickstarter seeking to make miniature arcade machines that play Rainbow Brite: Journey to Rainbow Land and Robotech: The Macross Saga has been fully funded. It was seeking $30,000 by June 7, 2018 to make these small gaming devices, and has already passed $40,000 by 10AM CT on May 9, 2018.

The Rainbow Brite: Journey to Rainbow Land and Robotech: The Macross Saga Coleco Evolved Mini Arcades are based upon the 1981 mini arcade machines that played Donkey Kong, Frogger and Pac-Man. These new machines have the same shape and shell, but upgrade the inner workings to have a new chip set, improved buttons, full color, 2.75” LCD displays and rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries.

The Coleco Evolved Mini Arcades Kickstarter has one stretch goal. If $180,000 is collected, a surprise tier will unlock.

The least amount of money someone can spend to back this Coleco Evolved Mini Arcades Kickstarter and get one of the machines is $45, as there is an early bird tier. When that sells out, the cost will go up to $55. The expected retail price for the machines will be $69 each. An early bird two-pack is $85, with its price going up to $105 after it sells out. $200 limited edition models of both are available, which will not be sold at retail.

Following a tease last month, SNK has officially announced Neo Geo Mini, a video game console featuring 40 titles from the 1990-released Neo Geo.
