They asking for our shipping details now.

Apparently when I backed this I backed for the exclusive backer edition. What? Why I do this. Bad dwarf.

Those of you who backed Shenmue III on Kickstarter should receive a survey soon, allowing you to select your t-shirt size and share other details depending upon the tier you chose.

And to celebrate that news, developer Ys Net has released a cute little clip starring one of the title’s characters: Rin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9kcGolzYhU

It’s obviously not representative of the final product because the scene won’t even be in the game, but it looks better than anything we’ve seen to date, which is reassuring.

There’s even a brief cameo from travel ticket cannibal Chai if you look closely.

Don’t panic if you haven’t received your survey yet: it should come soon.

You’ll have until 30th September to fill in all of the details, at which point Yu Suzuki and crew will move into the final phase of development ahead of launch next year.

Shenmue and Shenmue 2 re-releases coming this August

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE_xPfHP0dY

The re-release will cost $29.99. Pre-orders are now available on Steam and the Xbox Store, but not the PlayStation Store. Sega previously announced that it is also releasing physical copies of Shenmue 1 & 2 on PS4 and Xbox One.

Shenmue 1 & 2 is part of an impressive lineup of PC ports on the way from Sega. During E3 2018 last month, the company announced that it is bringing Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Valkyria Chronicles 4 to Steam. Yakuza 0 will arrive on PC just a few weeks before Shenmue 1 & 2, on Aug. 1.

In Sega’s announcement of Shenmue 1 & 2 back in April, it sounded like the PC version of the package would be the way to go, offering “fully scalable screen resolution” and “PC graphics options.” Features in all versions include modern and classic control schemes, Japanese and English voice-overs, and an updated interface.

In the latest of a string of Shenmue I & II promotional videos, SEGA’s roped in Ryo Hazuki’s voice actor Corey Marshall to offer some insight on the story. Yu Suzuki’s innovative adventure game is perhaps so beloved because it was one of the first games to really emphasise story-telling and cinematics – something that’s become much more common in recent years.

The video’s designed more for newcomers than veterans of the franchise, but it’s really exciting to hear Marshall’s voice again – even if his performance in the games hasn’t exactly aged well.

Shenmue I & II will get a collector's edition in Japan (PS4 only there) which apprently feaures English text as well. No idea how to confirm it pre-release though so import at your own risk.
