Alien is just what if Amnesia but like the movie Alien.

Bloodborne is like what if Dark Souls but we line the our brains with eyeballs, much cooler.

Ashes scattered 😀

I enjoyed that, but I'm sort of glad it's over, and I didn't feel like carrying on after the titles rolled, although, to be honest, I'd pretty much done everything except the Valkyries, and I'd done a few of them.

Great spectacle, though. Really well made.

I have to admit (although this won't be a shocker) I was still fumbling over the combat even after near 30 hours, things like switching to the axe and trying to pull off a runic attack but nothing happening because the axe was still stuck in a wall somewhere :) . There just seemed to be too much to remember for a casual like me, and half the time I'd forget the button sequence to some of the most useful moves and end up bashing.

My fault, really. Trying to see everything rather than just honing a personal combo style like I would on Bayonetta or DMC.

Yeah, great. A superb reboot, and I did see the secret end. So, bring it :D

Tried God of War 3 Remastered (since it was free through PS+ a couple of months ago).

I'd not played any of the God of War games before, but after 30 mins of souless button mashing and the occasional QTE I decided it's just not the sort of game for me.

Old God of War combat is completely mindless, it's no Bayonetta.

The reboot did a much better job.

Worst thing about it is starting a boring combo and getting interrupted, again Bayonetta fixed that. GoW4 even took the dodge offset system from it.

I can't wait to press square, square then triangle in glorious 1080p all over again.
I think your quote from back in 2014 (on Pg 1) sums it up quite nicely.

It sums up the old ones yeah. But the new one is much more free-flowing and less long dialing-in of boring, repetitive combos. It's a great game.

Also you recommended me that Crossley Holland book before so I know you like Norse stuff, you might like the new GoW.

Yes I sort of fancied the new one, but a bit concerned it might be more like Marvel flavoured Norse rather than traditional.

It's a bit of a cross between Neil Gaiman and traditional myth. Not that it's set in the present or anything but it has that snappy pace to its dialogue, everyone talking modern.

It's the best pop-culture treatment of oral and written myths I can think of tho my reference points don't extend far beyond Marvel's Thor and God of War.

I wrote my thoughts here when the game came out, I think I probably still agree with them
