Usually if you have either good relations to a publisher and/or a well-visited site/youtube channel they'll happily provide you with a review code. It's actually easier these days because of digital distribution and all.

You can't just make a blog and knock on their front door though.

Those giantbomb E3 couch sessions are like what if gaming coverage had its Graham Norton.

I've just thought of something, you know why AC might have dialogue options? It's cause Socrates is in it and historically he was an annoying c*nt who would walk into people's houses and just like start a fuking argument right there with them until he wins.
Sounds like Pious.

I just tried to play GTA 4 on an old PS3. It's surprisingly bad to both play and look at.
Is it on the Switch?

It wasn't even that fun to play when it came out, so no surprise it didn't age well.

I don't usually do this, but this is my first published review:

This is interesting (and well written), how does it work? When a publisher sends out code and such.

I've been trying to do similar, but self hosted and just as a kind of hobby thing. I find it hard to find the self-discipline to write anything and I also hate faffing around editing and revising drafts.
Thanks.

They were advertising for writers on twitter so I just emailed them and they offered me a code for Illusion if I’d like to review it, so I said yes :) they’re PlayStation specialists though so you need to have a PS4/Vita to review something for them.

The Fortnite account locking is weird. This problem didn't present itself with FFXIV for some reason, I could just share the account between PC and PS4 and did so all the time.

In fact I'm remembering at the time it was Microsoft who were dragging their feet over cross-platform play and that's why XIV never came out on Xbox. What has changed I wonder.

It happened with Rocket League too. Everyone plays together except for PS4 players.

At the time Sony made some weird statement about how it opens up their users to threats, and that security would be something something because of Microsoft.

I also remember Microsoft putting out a statement that was effectively like “All due respect, but fuk off”

Also PS4 has Minecraft on thei consoles so...

Gaming disorder. A new ailment in the WHO's international classification of diseases.

See, you people are sick. Sick, I say :)

I put something in the Things That Made You Happy thread about a report on this. Seems okay that the people and the global media can obsess about football etc, whilst video gaming is demonised

Video games are addictive though. Is it not fair to acknowledge that a little bit.

People have died from deep vein thrombosis cause they were so enthralled by WoW, you don't get that watching the World Cup.

Some people have a healthy relationship with games, others don't. For that group the medical community have started to treat their problem as a disorder to be treated, that's fine.

We will soon see a similar category for social media I bet.

I'm pretty sure the link between sports, spectators, violence and death is well documented, and other hazardous sports and pastimes end with injury and disablement.

Furthermore obsession with anything can lead to unhealthy behaviour and this isn't unique to video games. I have no problem with research and studies into video games so long as its contextualised against society's accepted 'norms'.

No-one seems to question the amount of practice a sports performer (or musician / artist) does, yet a pro gamer playing for 12 hrs a day is somehow 'dangerous'.
