In hotel rooms there's always a chair in the corner.......

I'm to cheap to pay for that....so have no idea what your talking about....I wonder what he does with the chair....I mean there's a perfectly good bed just sitting there

Well, usually the husband sits in it while watching the wife get plowed.
But enough of the derail, what's the plan for today?

Re: Jeem : London's Calling / LC 2.0

Anyway.....
Spent the morning wandering around the area...

Lovely church nearby, though I gave up on religion along with my alters boy cassock decades ago I do like just sitting down and admiring the architecture of religious sites, from the way their constructed to amplify song to the minutia of decoration i'm never bored in a church.
There is also some interesting modern buildings around here with a giant red triangle just down the road from me, as well as that newish Loyds building as well.
Did like the juxtaposition of this old (I want to say Victorian) pub flanked by the two glass towers behind it along with the crane showing how London is constantly changing.

Also had my first alcohol in probably 15 years when I had an ok pub lunch of cod and chips with a pint of cider....tasted how I remember it but feck my it keeps coming back at me.
As for tonight I think I might try my luck and go see the musical Wicked tonight, if not maybe tomorrow as the Apollo is just 100 yards down the road from my hotel.

Wicked is pretty good, although I'm not too keen on the Victoria Apollo, its a bit too big a theatre for my liking.

Re: Jeem : London's Calling / LC 2.0

And then on to the V&A...

Found new stuff that maybe has been switched around since my last visit...
Think this is an interpretation of Herod ordering the killing of all new-borns.

Very creepy (I think at least) porcelain statues of children...

Dude it may be the butcher in e talking but that is cool as f##k !

Rather nice Samurai exhibit, as good as any I saw in Japan.

Then it was on to the Natural History Museum, nothing new to show of course, but I will say this Museums in London in January are quiet.
Well my first musical starts in an hour so ta-ta for now.

My back can take it. its the tendonitis in my ankles that might be a bit#h.therealjaxon wrote:Wicked is three hours?? Screw that, my back couldn't take it!
Edit.
Well that's that...

It was ok I suppose, not really for me though, a few funny lines made me smile but overall the only thing that kept me there was the "you paid £50 stick it out, you paid £50 stick it out..."
Mabye i'm just to old and grumpy.

Re: Jeem : London's Calling / LC 2.0

Came back around 4pm to light snow flurrys that might make my bus back tomorrow night less than fun but will wait and see on that one.
Tomorrow I fancy going to see that new star wars flick at a cinema near by, other that not much else to do than hang about till the bus comes.
Overall it was nice to come back to London for the museum again but I think this will be the last time here for some time.
(no pics photobuckets acting up again)

Re: Jeem : London's Calling / LC 2.0

Anyway....
The British Museum.

Not really much new to post aside from this unusual collection of disabled and diseased figurines...

Some are just obese others suffering from pott's disease, just find it interesting that ancient cultures would venerate such conditions.
Also this helmet...

This throws up an interesting difference in how I view things when visiting a museum, there was two Americans in front of me and all they discussed about the helm was where it was from, how it was made, the culture it came from.

I've always viewed items from a more human perspective, a man died with it on, was it in battle, a raid, or did he simply stumble and fall from his citys walls.
I look at things and want to connect to their past, there was a huge collections of coins on display at one point and I looked at them and wonder...
Was that gold coin used to buy a horse, or was it the spoils of war, maybe it was an officers pay, did he buy food ?, wine ?, a slave ?.
Did that low value silver coin belong to a peasant, was it all the wealth he had ?, pert of a dowry for his only daughter ?.
I suppose I just like to make up storys for things I see, but it brings things to life for me and its why I love museums so much i think.
Anyway as a said its of to the movies then home tonight...maybe weather dependent
