I forgot that the game is on Steam as well, so I should probably get that one so that modders can fix the stuff that the developers couldn't be bothered with. It means I have to wait for a proper sale though since I am not paying £40 :P

No Man’s Sky is getting a major update in the coming weeks, Hello Games announced on its website. The “Foundation Update” will introduce a base-building feature into the game, according to the developer, as well as set the stage for further updates.

A release window has not yet been dated, and more details about the patch will also arrive at a later date. Hello Games did say that this won’t be the game’s “biggest update, but it is the start of something.”

The team also reflected on the criticism surrounding the game since launch, which has found No Man’s Sky and its developer subjected to player outrage over its content, social media hacks, and even an investigation for false advertising, due to screenshots showing features not included within the game itself.

“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic,” the Hello Games team wrote in the post, its first since September. “We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.

“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.”

:) ooooh my RPG/OCD loves any excuse to build stuff.

Today Hello Games introduced the promised update 1.1 for No Man’s Sky

Image

Trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI9PvjJJijY

First of all, there will be three game modes:

•Normal mode is the original chilled exploration experience.

•Creative mode allows players to explore the universe without limits, and build a huge base.

•Survival mode really changes the game, creating a much more challenging endurance experience.

Players will be able to claim a home planet and build a base using a series of modular elements and decorations. Alien lifeforms will be recruitable to crew the outpost. It’ll even be possible to teleport to the home base from space stations.

Hydroponic farms will let you cultivate plants, offering a steady source of resources, with ten new plant types introduced by the update.

New equipment can be constructed on planets: automated harvesters to gather resources, waypoints to find places you already explored, communication terminals to leave messages for other explorers, and signal scanners to find mineral deposits, uninhabited bases or suits upgrades.

It’ll also be possible to purchase huge interstellar freighters and summon them from anywhere in the galaxy to transport large quantities of resources. The interior of each freighter can be customized and expanded. Crew can be recruited among the aliens.

The UI has been improved with a quick access menu, inventory stacking (up to five times), specific symbols for scanned resources, and more.

Last, but not least, Temporal Anti Aliasing and Motion Blur have been added as visual options, while terrain generation and colorization algorithms have been revised to produce more interesting planets.

:| shame they didn't release all this in the first month, the game might not have got such a hammering.

would have been far better delaying the game for this, or to have at least announced rough plans for it so people would have realised it was essentially early access.

still, look forward to playing about with new features but doubt its going to get touched any time soon with FFXV around the corner and Y6 due its going to be the back side of January till this gets a look in.

No Man’s Sky creators cleared of false advertising allegations

Hello Games did not use misleading ads or exaggerate the features of No Man’s Sky on its Steam sales page, according to an investigation by U.K.-based Advertising Standards Authority.

“We understood that the screenshots and videos in the ad had been created using game footage, and acknowledged that in doing this the advertisers would aim to show the product in the best light,” according to the findings released today on the ASA website. “Taking into account the above points, we considered that the overall impression of the ad was consistent with gameplay and the footage provided, both in terms of that captured by Hello Games and by third parties, and that it did not exaggerate the expected player experience of the game.

“We therefore concluded that the ad did not breach the Code.”

So messed about with this today, seems much the same and looking back through the thread I see I need to change to creative mode to try base building...that said I need to find a nice planet for that first.

Oh and it has a photomode just like HDZ...

So finally the game as promised...

The No Man’s Sky Next update will launch alongside the release of the Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky on July 24, developer Hello Games announced.

The No Man’s Sky Next update will add full multiplayer, including the ability to meet up with friends and strangers, and work together to survive, prey on others, or build bases.
