I also saw Oblivion (PC) for €29.99 in several stores and Fallout 1 + 2 bundle for the price of €20 or 2 for €30 - not bad, huh? I'll probably pick up both in the new year (especially fallout after reading the RPG Bible). Oh yeah and Disgaea 2 was widely available although at €44.99 i think i'll wait 'till it drops a little. I guess this is the benefit of the next gen - cheaper current gen.

I just got my 2nd nunchuck in HMV today for €24.99, which seems roughly the equivilant of £17.99. To be honest, it seems everytime i go to buy something Wii related it's out of stock at Game and HMV have loads at about €10 cheaper.

i bought a storage card reader today. while looking at the various cards displayed i remembered paying 24.99 for the 1G SD i got with my Wii.
I thought i'd get another for my other gadgets and had a look in woolworths for a Wii sd card (as they appeared to be cheaper). 49.99 was the price wooly's were charging, thats double what they were two weeks ago.

Its due to the demand, i shopped around a couple of weeks ago for my virtual console controller and some points and paid £29.98 for the pad and 2000 points, yet my brother picked up both for £38.98 yesterday he is not a happy bunny!! i was goin to get the component leads but im not paying £25!! this side of christmas on a lead thats way out of order especially as they should be around £15!!
If you cant ride it, it cant be fun!!

I always thought that the Wii was expensive for its specifications. The Christmas shopping frenzy has only served to make things worse. It sounds like people are spending well over £250 for a Wii, one game, a component cable and an extra controller. Bargain! Nintendo (and most High Street stores) are gonna have a killer Christmas: cheap hardware + extiortonate prices = £££. And still everybody's complaining about the PS3!
Re:
Definitely, my friend. Many don't realise the total cost of proper enjoyment out of the Wii, forgetting to sum up the additional price of controllers and nun-chucks. Nintendo are good at this.Mar-Vell wrote:Nintendo (and most High Street stores) are gonna have a killer Christmas: cheap hardware + extiortonate prices = £££. Re:
£180 for the Wii hardware is poor value for money. I'm not attacking the machine, I'm gonna get one after Metroid Prime Corruption is out. It's just not "cheap" as many people say. Nintendo are selling the Wii at almost the same price as the core 360 - the technological differences between the two are astronomical. As for the PS3, as I've said before, for what it gives you and provided you care about its features, it's exceptional value for money, especially if (like me) you buy a 60GB one from the States for £300.Miss Marvellous wrote:Whist the PS3 will have extortionate hardware price as well as extortionate accessiories!!

not technically disagreeing with anyone (on the fence!) but you can't really compare the wii price with that of the 360 or PS3 due to the "technological differences" the're very different machines.
sure its a bit more expensive than i would have liked, but for that £180 you get a £40 game, a £30 controller and a £20 nunchuk with the console itself.
and while it definately gets VERY expensive when you buy 4 nunchucks and 3 remotes, this is your choice for doing so. I won't be buying extras until I can get them cheaper thats for sure

The thing is, you have to be up front about at and admit that Nintendo charge you more for the same service. Sony and Microsoft sell their machines at a loss, and Nintendo sell them for a profit. What that means is that Nintendo could sell them for less, and don't. Sure, the Wii may be cheaper than the others, but that doesn't change the fact that in relative terms, their pricing policy is higher.
