Can anyone offer an explaination of the 360 Live Reputation?
Can anyone offer an explaination of the 360 Live Reputation?
I can't afford a 360 yet, so have only used Live on the first Box. A friend of mine played Live on his old Box as well, but cancelled his subscription as a result of getting frustrated with all the abuse he found himself subjectet to. He is unwilling to try Live on his new 360 and I can't really convince him otherwise without more knowledge of how the reputation system works (does it work?). Please could I request your help?

It's basically just an indication of how well other players rate the attitude of the person you're playing. It doesn't effect match-making directly, but the way the reputation is decided is thus:
- Every person you play against, you can give "Player Feedback"
- Positive Feedback (ie. Preferring the player, or not complaining) will match you more often with that player in Player Match games online.
- Negative Feedback (here you can be more specific, complaining about attitude/language/disruptive behaviour, etc) will make it less likely you will meet that player again online.
The final result of this feeback changes the reputation (or number of stars you have) on your gamercard. More positive reviews and your rep goes up, more negative, and it goes down.

Tell your mate, the best thing to do is only play with your friends list, or games that don't require the headset ie. PGR3 etc.
The reputation system is pointless. The matchmaking system isn't however. Put yourself in the family room and your far more likely to come across 'calmer' people.

Seconded. I learnt very early on that this is the way to go. There are some genuinely decent people out there in normal matchmaking but in my experience they're few and far between compared to the obnoxious/abusive/arrogant gamers on Live, which is a shame. But with your Friends list your guaranteed to play with and against friendly and civillised (if sometimes drunkSomerset Bumpkin wrote:Tell your mate, the best thing to do is only play with your friends list

yeah, basically the reputation system means absolutely bugger-all.So tell your mate not to worry and get onto Live,as without it you're missing out, trust me Gears Of War NEEDS to be experienced online.
You'll get some people occasionally yelling abuse at you,but the majority of the time you'll get on fine.If you really don't want wankerish americans yelling insults, don't use your headset, you'll still have a great time.
I've played against most of the people on this forum, without exception they are friendly, funny and an absolute pleasure to play with/against.

It's sad, but he was my only proper friend on my friends list and vice versa. We don't know any proper gamers, which is why we spent more time playing with other people. But now he has a 360 and I can't afford one.
Do you guys really have proper friends on your friends list? Mines full of people that piss me off half the time anyway! God, I wish I knew more people that were gamers!

one of mine, ragnaroth,is a mate of mine from Tesco,a funny guy and great to play against.I've got another Tesco mate that's getting a 360 for chrimbo,so he should be online soon hopefully.
Other than that my list consists of people from the forum, get a session going with anyone here and you'll definitely be in for a brilliant time.

Does anyone still play Live on the old Xbox games? I have PGR2, HALO2, DOOM 3, FORZA (I don't really get on with this though!), Splinter Cell (PT & CT), PES5, BURNOUT (takedown & revenge), TIMESPLITTERS FP, RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN, TOP SPIN, RAINBOW SIX (3 & BA), STEET FIGHTER ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION, BATTLEFIELD 2 MODERN COMBAT, SNIPER ELITE, FULL SPECTRUM WARRIOR (1 & 2), RALLISPORT CHALLENGE 2, OUTRUN 2, OUTRUN 2006 COAST 2 COAST and possibly some others I can't remember now.
I would appreciate if there is someone who I could set up a game with, maybe in the new year. Maybe my new years gaming resolution could be to get some decent people on my friends list!
