I think it boils down to what the developer wants to do with the capabilities of the wii. If they go for 'realistic' graphics then it is more open to scrutiny compared to other formats. This will be even more so with the cross platform titles ie COD, Far Cry.

However, if a different art direction is taken and there is a genuine style then I see no problems. I don't beleive there have been any gripes about how Rayman looks and No More Heroes looks good too.

just imagine how a wind waker type cel shaded graphics would look on the wii, i mean this game looked superb on the gamecube but the effects on the wii would be superb!!

I think with the wii, the thing to remember its a new gaming experience i mean everyone was comparing the ds to the psp, yep the psp is more powerful and has full multimedia capabilities, yet which handheld is the mose successful?? has the more fun games?? well its the ds

I think the wii is well into early days and im sure developers will squeeze better looking games out of the console as time goes on, the cube had some superb looking games, killer7 resident evil 4, zelda tww, even fifa looked great on the cube, so the best is yet to come!!
If you cant ride it, it cant be fun!!

Just like all machines and games, Mate. Alot of people simply can't look past the gloss to see if the painting was any fucking good :(

Xbox graphics are as good as any really NEED to get.
Hell, I've had way more fun and been more 'Immersed' playing Ape Escape on the Ps1 than I have playing PG3 on the 360.
If the monkey could type one keystroke every nanosecond, the expected waiting time until the monkey types out Hamlet is so long that the estimated age of the universe is insignificant by comparison ... this is not a practical method for writing plays.

Complete nonsense.

Nah, I know what Banjo means. Certainly I found, say, Pokemon on the GB colour far more immersive for me than Project Gotham, but that's not to say that I don't love the steps forward in graphical capability we're seeing.

But, yeah, obviously for most people, graphics are the icing on the cake, not the actual cake itself.

...I could really go a slice of cake right now. Nothing too fancy, just chocolate with some cream.

How about giving a reason why thats nonsense?

Let's leave personal insults out of this, shall we?

Indeed, this should not be an argument as it is entirely opinion. I personally think that both a visual style and a visual flair are very important in games.

That is though not to say that I can't find this even on the Wii's VC. Visual flair and artistic style is neither HD nor SD, if it's pleasing on the eye then that's all that matters. The usual approach to this is to make things "photo realistic" which is great. I see videos for PS3 stuff and think "wow that does look real" I see it on the Xbox as well. I see a game like windwaker and think "wow it's like I'm playing a cartoon".

Both give me the same pleasure, so I am really non-fussed about which option developers go with, some fit with certain games whilst others don't, some games will look a lot more realistic on Xbox and PS3, some games on the Wii may have more of an art or cartoon feel to them.

The real discussion here though is which can you afford I know personally if money was no object as a gamer I would have every games console ever made, I would like to try them all and would not have to feel that I ned to defend my chosen console to those who have chosen another option, and really that's all that discussions like this are. Someone has bought an Xbox360 and can not afford a Wii or vise versa so they need to afirm to themsleves the merits of the actions they chose. It is basic physchology and doesn't just happen with games consoles. Go into work and argue the merits of your Ford Fiesta over your friends Vauxhall Corsa, in essence they both do the same but voicing opinions such as these helps to give affirmation that you made the right choice. It is also why when when you are told you made the wrong choice for whatever reason, that the natural response will be to secure your position on your particular point of view. That's when arguments start.

The real answer is that games developers will make crap on all three systems, and quite possibly gold on all three systems, if you can only choose one as most of us can, go with your gut instinct.

The main thing is, whichever one you choose, have fun with it and don't let anyone tell you that you're not.
