A word of warning. When it was on at the barbican, when it got busy they were only letting people in for a certain amount of time in order to let more people in. Dunno if it's the same at the science museum, but if so you might want to go when it's likely to be least busy.

If everything's agreed on a time and date, I'll meet you in London mate.
Can't offer to put you up anywhere (my stay isn't guaranteed and I don't live anywhere near the capital) but I'll certainly meet up with ya.

I'm intending on going closer to Christmas. My girlfriends Dad is planning on opening a games shop where he lives in Spain. I told him he should go in order to conduct 'market research'. They are coming over from Spain for Christmas. Haven't booked a date yet. When is anybody else going?

I'm up for it. last time i went to science museum i got lost. my teacher on the school trip was not happy.
Perhaps going on a week day would be better for beating the crowds. You know there's gonna be loads of kids running around.
I live an hour out of london, in guildford. so i'm not to far.

Does anybody have any suggestions about how to get cheap travel. I would be going from Wiltshire. I think I would prefer the train.

So far thetrainline.com has been suggested to me for cheap tickets. Any better ideas?

Visitors to the Science Museum's Game On exhibition will get the chance see how the next-gen consoles match up when the Wii and PS3 go on display from Wednesday.

Game On already features more than 120 playable games - including several Xbox 360 titles. Sony and Nintendo's new consoles will make their debut on November 29, and the exhibition will be open to the public from 9am.

"The Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii will all be in Game On, plugged in and ready to play. Visitors can experience the graphics, interactivity and intensity that are to form the next stage of gaming’s technological and cultural development."

I went on Saturday but I didn't really like it that much. It was very busy and too many people were hogging the games so I rarely got the chance to play many. In fact I only got to play three (maybe I should have been a bit more patient). I wasn't too bothered as a lot of the games I can play at home anyway.

They do have a pair of earphones on the wall where you can listen to various tracks from different games e.g. The Last Ninja, Jet Set Radio and Rez.

I think it would be much better to go this event on a school day. I went to the Barbican exhibit when it was quiet and got to play everything I wanted and enjoyed it. I would suggest that's it's not really an event that will keep you occupied all day which is why maybe we should get a pub and some arcades in.

Hendo, perhaps you could make a list of the attendees in the first post?

Also, bring your DS's. ;)

To be fair, me and me online chums have been dying to get the right excuse for meeting up, so this is the best one.
No-one could agree on a location as everywhere is far away for somebody.
The thing itself could be rubbish but if it is we'll cut our losses and barge someone's house for some wireless multi joy.
Or Guitar Hero.

I went a few weekends ago, was ok, but I was disapointed they didn't do more to actually show the development of games over time, for example, they had outrun 2 running on an xbox, but no original outrun. I think it would have been much better if they put some more effort into doing things like that. It was also very busy on the weekend!

Still worth a look though if your a games freak, also a chance to post some top scores (got the fastest time on the easy route in outrun2  , although its probably gone now  )

I finally went yesterday. Was as big as I got the impression it would be on the website, but I still thought it was great. Wasn't that busy either. I got to play Wii sports tennis on the Wii and motorstorm the PS3. In either case I was impressed, but less so by the PS3. They had it running on a high quality 1080 (alghough I couldn't see if it was i or p) tv and it looked great. Still don't know what it will look like on a normal TV. Although, it's all a bit irrelavant for me because I won't be able to afford one for many years. Or find the room for one. I really didn't appreciate how MASSIVE the PS3 is. I am genuinely shocked and will wait for the PSthree for sure.

The one thing I was most ammused by, however, was that Ian Beale (or rather the actor that plays him) from Eastenders was there with his family. I first spotted him playing on a sit down space invaders unit. Then Street Fighter 2 on the SNES. Then I saw him play the PS3 with his son. I wanted to go and pass my sympathy for the loss of his Aunt over Xmas, but I decided not to bother!
