BT wireless hub?
BT wireless hub?
Just got an E-mail from BT saying i can have a free upgrade to one of those BT wireless Hub doobries.
This is all nice n stuff especially since i will be the owner of a Wii in a couple of weeks which connects wirelessly anyway.
Thing is does the Hub still have ehternet ports? or will i have i have to purchase the wireless adaptor for my 360?
My router has been working perfectly for the last few years on wires playing Xbox Live, im a bit worried making the move to wireless and opening a can of worms? Im no expert at opening ports to bypass firewalls for online play, then theres the issue of protecting your wireless network (although i dont think the 92 year old woman next door will be piggy backing my connection)
What you reckon?

Re:
I concur, BT Home Hub has all the above. It also works perfectly out of the box with DS and PSP.Somerset Bumpkin wrote:Me old man has a wireless hub, its got 2 (I think its 2 ethernet ports), USB ports, and wireless. It works great, was the simplest thing I've ever set up and the telephone is free all day and night to landlines.
I think its a good call - definatly got ethernet ports though

Well you can always encrypt your Wireless network WPA or WEP, however as far as I know the DS and Wii only supports WEP key encryption, which can be cracked in a matter of hours depnding how good the hacker is, but he would have to be in range of your wireless signal so just watch out for people sat in vans with laptops.DADDYCOOL wrote: im a bit worried making the move to wireless and opening a can of worms? hmph, i've had nothing but trouble with wireless hubs/routers and all that jazz.
Used to have a wireless router connected to the main PC (MINE). Another PC in a different room had a USB wireless thing that connected to the router and then the Xbox connected to the pc using a cable.
This whole set up kept failing every other day so i just used a standard ADSL modem and put all the routers in a big box never to be used again.
I hate you people who have success with electronics
