3DS Download titles (previously Pullbox)

Post by Shaolin_monkey » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:48 am

Hey guys, that pullblox on eshop really bloody good! A puzzler that actually uses the 3D effect to solve the puzzle, kind of. A wee red sumo thing pulls blocks out to create a series of steps up to the baby sumo at the top. All very cutesy and colourful, but some of these puzzles are a bitch!

Although I've got past the tutorial, I still have one to beat on beginner, although it has allowed me to move onto intermediate. That one I can't beat is an absolute bastard. Challenge 1-8 anyone? Help!

Anyway, for a fiver its pretty damn good.

1-8 took me a while. You have to strategically alternate between left and right and use the side-pull. I can’t give you a step-by-step explanation as it was a bit back and forth when I played it, but if you focus on using side-pull, it should work out.

I’ve just finished world 1 a couple of minutes ago and I really like it, too. I was a bit afraid it would play like Catherine (which I didn’t like at all) but thankfully, there are no time limits or cheap bosses so it’s all good. Also, I love the characters, they look equally dumb and cute.

i was going to buy this but i got suckered in to link's awakening instead. definitely next time, though. i watched most of the e-shop video, looks neat.

just a thought, but do you think we could start a 3DS downloads thread to be updated with cool findings? i hardly ever get my systems online and find it difficult to keep up with what's going on. but am very interested when the odd thing like this comes along.

Has anyone picked up that Switch Force game yet? It's by the same folk who did that Shantae action platformer. This time it is a puzzle platformer with a bit of shooting too. The design is quite devious - it took me quite a while to get few the first few levels. Mind you, I'm really shit at these kind of games. The 3D effect is quite cool, using three planes of 3D, with each plane having a 2D comic book effect.

That free letterbox thing is a laugh, eh? Except someone sent me the obligatory giant cock picture, which my daughter almost saw. Thanks Sly!

Anyway, let's get some funky 3D pics going!

Edit: My apologies for the excessive number of 3D pics hitting your inboxes, but I've been having quite a bit of fun with it. Drawing in two planes (foreground and background) adds a whole new dimension (hur hur) for creativity. My faves so far are Clint and Steve Harris.

Mighty Switch Force is nice, but I expected something completely different. Considering it comes from the developer of Contra 4, I thought it would be some classic run and gun action with that rather special feature –– in this case the switching. But it’s more a highscore platformer than anything else. Still good, but I’d have preferred a more classic take on the genre. As you say, the 3D effect is excellent though. I hope to see some Metroid or Castlevania in this style in the future.
