GamerDork-Dorkapalooza Meetup
Hi guys, i've got news of an exciting event coming up this July. 'What's Gamerdork?' i hear you cry. Well, it's a highly entertaining gaming podcast by Neil Brooks and Leon Cox. Current gaming events, comments from their forum, with plenty of laughs.
'What's Dorkapalooza'? you cry again. On the 8th and 9th of July 2011, there's going to be a GD meetup at the Novotel Hotel in Glasgow. It should be a lot of fun, a chance to meet the team, have a few drinks, hoping to have Rock Band set up. Also, there will be an attempt to beat the Guiness World Record for a fighting game, currently at about 27 hours. A team of 8/10 people will try to play Super Streetfighter 4 for 30 hours.
Also, a charity donation has been set up for the record attempt, with donations going to the Children's Hospice Association Scotland. You can go to http://www.justgiving.com/gamerdork to make a donation.
Fancy joing the record attempt team?Head to http://www.gamerdork.net/forum, for info on the 'Dorkapalooza' thread in general gaming. There's still room if you fancy a SF marathon, so why not check it out? I'm on the attempt team, as is Craymen Edge. Thanks for reading, hope to see you there!

Fair point mate, sorry if I come across as a bit of a "check THIS out" salesman. But it's looking to be a lot of fun, so thought I'd spread the word.

I am surprised this hasn't had more feedback. Our very own Andy Kurosaki and Craymen Edge are attempting to get in the record books and raise cash for sick kids in the process. The whole forum should behind them in this venture, even if they don't have anything to do with the organisers. It's a pretty big event when you look at it. 30 hours non-stop of SSFIV. Would drive me mental playing it for 30 minutes.

Hope that record attempts on the PS3.... i'm not sure a 360's capable of working for that amount of time, straight. All the best Andy and Crayman.

Yeah, I'm assuming we have a contigency plan, as no 360 will last 30 hours straight, and it wouldn't do a PS3 much good either.
And like I say, there's still places available on the attempt team, so please don't think "I'm not into Gamerdork, so I'm not elligable". The GD forum is a very much laid back, friendly community, so if you fancied throwing your hat into the proverbial ring, I'm sure Neil and Leon would be happy to welcome you aboard

As well as the SSFIV event, there's now also a Rock Band 3 Endless Setlist Team being setup by Shadowmate, a GD forumite. He's very generously bringing his extensive RB collection, so a team can play to also raise money for CHAS.
