Exploit a freak 2010

Post by Sherak » Mon Dec 13, 2010 9:39 am

Another year and more cruelty in the name of entertainment.... stomach churning toe curling TV :!: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheXFactorU ... pRABJQNIyg I really would love to know how they get these people on because the first time they put themselves in the firing line you can belive they are touch deluded and misguided by people around them who are also deluded and not so intelectually gifted. But once they have been exposed on TV, humiliated, repeated over and over on other TV shows, radio and ridiculed in the press what is it that lures them back? Is it in the contract they have to sign before they audition, is it a HUGE pay cheque?... Some of the people on this just dont look like they want to be there. Also the 2 young girls who ended up fighting in the audition? Surely you would never want to appear on TV again never mind perform again in front of a 200 foot backdrop of your first humiliating TV appearance.... bizzare!

I think that the short answer is the same thing that brought them onto the damned 'show' in the first place. They don't want to be 'singers', they just want to be 'famous'. So it doesn't matter what happens or how humiliated they are, they will still keep coming back. Look at Jade Goody - she was almost universally reviled by all right thinking people, but she still was famous and made a fuckload of cash. Same applies to Jordan. So with examples like that to look up to, is it really any surprise that these people keep putting themselves out there for shit like this?

With this and Strictly, it was a record TV viewing audience for a Sunday night since records began back in 1992. Of course, I do agree with Mat from Suede - it's a "genius scam" getting ITV and the advertisers to pay to promote Simon Cowell's record label!
