forza 3 disc 1 wont/cant install

I'm now on my 2nd new copy of forza 3 after the 1st copy wouldn't play and couldn't be installed (got game might be dirty or damaged message.)

Now my 2nd new copy of forza 3 on Friday and it will play fine (at the time of writing) in my 360 but again I cant install it completely, at best Ive got to 40% and got disc read error as above.

I have installed disc 2, which disc 1 prompted me to do and that all went fine.

Anyone else had this issue and got any help as I dont want to have to go through multiple copies of the game until I find one
that will install.

Maybe the laser on your XBOX is a bit knackered. Can you try the disk on someone else's console to see if it works there?

Found a solution. For some reason I wondered what would happen if I pulled ethernet cable out and disconnected from live, it then installed first time without any issues.
