Squidgy Sticks

The Sticks on my Ps3 controllers have gone all Squidgy/Squeaky/Creaky. It makes QTEs more difficult and the sound gets annoying.

Can this be fixed ?
Can you sell them to Gamesstation in this condition ?
Do the Dualshock 3s do this or is it only my old Sixaxis style ones?

had no issue with the sticks but have a similar issue with my dpads on both sixaxis pads...no such issues on the dualshock3 and that has taken more of a hammering

I got suspicious that it happens because of too many 'circle the sticks,' qtes. But I have nothing to base that on.
