For coming up to 3 weeks Ive had lots of internet problems which are driving me beyond despair now and is causing problems
with anything connected to my network regardless of wether the connection is wireless or wired.
I keep getting error codes on the wii, have problems downloading any demo via the 360 and network connections
timing out on my laptop and things either not streaming or downloading which also includes items on itunes.
I even had a message on the bbc iplayer (on both my laptop and wii) saying that I didnt have enough broadband allowance even though I have a up to 10 mb connection. Whats more puzzling is that Ive tested my broadband speed at a few places online and which always show that I have a download speed that averages out of around 7mb.
I've not long got off the phone from speaking to someone at virgin who did some diognostic tests with my modem, which the tech guy said was working fine. He also did a test where I closed down my browser and did a send/receive packet test which he said comfirmed that I dont have a firewall problem.
He concluded that the problem may well be a firefox problem but after the phone Ive been testing internet explorer which has the same issues.
Ive look on the net for help but cant find anything that I understand or that may be the issue so Im desperately hoping that someone else here may be able to help. Pleeaaaase can anyone help?

Re: Internet problems help!!!!!!!
The reason behind your problem can be one of any below listed :
1.Make sure you have the correct IP scheme for your network
2.If you are directly connect to your DSL or Cable Modem, you should have an IP address that would correspond to something from your ISP.
3.Subnet Mask: Also make sure you have the correct Subnet Mask. Most commonly this would be 255.255.255.0
4.Default Gateway: Make sure you have the correct Default Gateway IP address.
With a router, this is typically the IP address of your router.
5.Sometimes this is the IP address of your router, so it would be the same as the Gateway IP.
etc.

Re: Internet problems help!!!!!!!
Thanks for the very thorough response David. However as luck (or virgin) should have it, things are working better at the moment.
I have to admit though that Im not technically minded at least when it comes to computers and the internet and dont really
understand this subnet and gateway info. Really cant make much sense of it but appreciate your post.
I will however show the post you made to a more techincally minded friend of mine who may get it more.
Thanks again.
