Contacting development teams for questions on titles

Post by Beijing-King » Mon Feb 22, 2010 1:32 am

Hey all,

I was hoping someone could provide me with some advice on getting contact details for development teams. I'm planning to do some video features on a select set of titles that I have played in my lifetime, and part of this will hopefully be snippets or quotes from the makers themselves, to get a profile of how the team went about its creation, their overall impression with the finished product, what they hoped to achieve and so on.

Right now, I'm trying to get info on the famous Jet Set Radio, developed by Smilebit who are now defunct (after merging back with SEGA, working under SEGA Sports if I read up correctly). Probably a wasteful task, but it's a game I recently picked up again and forgot how much I liked.

However, it looks like I suck at finding out contact numbers to try and get some questions answered, or even get an appropriate e-mail address.

If anyone at the mag or on this forum could assist, please do!

Cheers!

You most likely will have to go through the publishers PR department and be a member of the press. The folks at GTM only vist the forums once in a blue moon and I doubt anyone here has a direct line to the people at Sega Japan or any other publisher/developer for that matter. Sorry Dude.

But there there might be a 50/50 chance that Haggar has every person in the industry on speed dial.

VERY difficult task mate.

As KC said, you'd have to go through the organisation/publishers PR company.

Then, if you get a green light, they'd only allow you to talk to certain people and that's highly unlikely to be a developer.

Thanks for the info guys,

If I can get to talk to any member of the team, regardless of position, about the games pathway to being built, it'd be something at least. I understand they have to keep tight-lipped incase they are misquoted or whatever.

The only number I've seen in relation to anything I'm looking to analyse is for Valve, Sega are seemingly playing secret, and Studio3 (who published Silent Bomber, another title I want to look at) went out of business years ago.
