The main thing that will help you is to stop being a misanthrope. You don't have to be fake to get on with people. I've worked in a Corporate environment for 14 years and occasionally come across fake people but they don't last for long.

Just be yourself and relax. In a group situation it's all about balance,

Taking the lead is good but don't take over
Getting your point across it good be be careful to bring others in to the conversation and collaborate

John Lewis is the nation's favourite retailer. They are an employee owned organisation and engender amazing loyalty from their staff as a result.

Have you not got kids? Surely you're proud of that fact? You must be a pretty dependable person under pressure too - when that crisis happened recently where you live the bloke ended up seeking your help.
Stepkids. Im still gonnna have to come up with lies for it.

If you're going to lie then make sure you do it well. It's easy to see through someone that is making stuff up in front of you. The level of detail needs to be high for it to be believable.

Christ im not gonna lie about anything big. Its just the questions....

1. Why do you want to work here
2. What are your proudest achievements.

I will prob of think of something decent (the truth), i think im worrying too much.

Also best to release any stress and tension you have the day/night before (however you do usually it) as anxiety and nervous energy are very obvious.

Had a job interview this morning. If I'm unsuccessful then I am basically redundant - I do have a couple more weeks to find something suitable but it's very competitive as there are many people in the same position where I work

Good luck to both of you guys :D

I got an email today from a company that I interviewed with over a year ago - they had a massive change of circumstances after the interview and advised they would 'keep my details on file' - turns out they did, and they contacted me to say that they now have a position and all of the candidates that the agencies have sent them are of poor quality and my name came up in conversation so they dug out my CV and are practically offering me the job. I'd love to take it, but the salary drop is HUGE. Still made me happy in my ego tho... :D

It would be better in that its about a million times more stable and it is in mortgages which is what I am actually qualified at. On the other hand, its not enough money (although they've upped the offer 4 times but I think thats as far as they will go now) and it would be more expensive travel costs and a buttload more hassle to get to and from work and longer days.

At the end of the day its tempting - REALLY tempting, but I think its just got to be a no. I promised myself I was gonna sort my shit out this year and my next move would be a career one. This would just be another stopgap job I think, and I've had enough of those for a lifetime already...

"I want to work for a retail company that has a large emphasis on customer satisfaction and can provide quality and sometimes less well known goods to the general public. I feel I can provide the customers with a high level of customer service and enthusiasm which they would expect"

Edited for more lies...

i have wrote something along those lines but not as well put together, thanks dude., remember i will be working in the call centre and not a store.

the next question is .....

What are you most proud of?

Now this is a killer for me. I was gonna write something about how i got my stepson into rock music and playing guitar and i taught him a few things and now it has all paid off because he has steadily improved and has excelled in music at school and now has the confidence to go after his dream.

If that's the first thing you can think of then it's obviously the thing your most proud of. Go with that :)

Unless the job is for IT call center than you should always harp on about customer service and going the extra mile - you will probably get asked a question along the lines of this so have that prepared.

If its a call center you will probably have some sort of target for answering calls within a certain time so say how damn efficient and quick at everything you are without giving less than 110% ALL THE DAMN TIME.

The "proud of" question? Go with what you typed.
