Would love another couple of free maps if they can release them, not sure map packs would work on the game though. The whole idea is to avoid menu's and the random games would probably result in you playing the original maps way to often for it to be worth buying.

Re: Battlefield 1943
It could happen, 1942 had maps in Europe too, along with the UK, French and the USSR fighting the Germans and the Italians. I don't think it would be free, though you never know, all the BC stuff was gratis.

Yeh I wouldnt be surprised if they released more maps from a different campaign. Honestly with the popularity of it you kind of have to assume they will at some point. Hopefully they make sure people buy it with a decent price and perhaps a discount if you buy it with the original.Sly Reflex wrote:It could happen, 1942 had maps in Europe too, along with the UK, French and the USSR fighting the Germans and the Italians. If I had my way, I would have the following two maps
Stalingrad - The Soviets could start on the opposite side of the Volga, with boats to take you across. Intense building to building fighting would make the ability to blow holes in walls good. Plus ambushing tanks from burned out buildings would be awesome.
Kurst - A huge tank battle, like coral sea but with tanks instead of planes

Nice choices, there were plenty of classic maps in BF1942 to choose from so hopefully they get at least a few more over in some capacity. I'm glad they included Wake Island at launch though, that map is too classic to miss out.onewild wrote:If I had my way, I would have the following two maps

I've said it before but a version of this in the vein of Battlefield 2 (PC version) would be awesome in the future. There were some great maps there, although the whole 64 player thing might be an issue.

DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio, today announced that Battlefield 1943 is the fastest selling day one and week one download-only game worldwide on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. It is also the fastest selling day one and week one download-only game on the PlayStation Network in North America. Overall since its launch on July 8th, Battlefield 1943 has sold over 600,000 copies on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network.
“We are honoured by the reception that the game has received so far,” says Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield 1943. “Watching and participating in this non-stop multiplayer action has been a real treat for us and we can’t believe how fast our fans reached 43 million kills. We can now truly say that we have set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category and gamers recognize the endless value that Battlefield 1943 provides for just $15.”

Re: Battlefield 1943
I just bought this last night - I played the trial after it came out, but didn't really put the time into it and deleted it, disinterested. Anyway, I DLd & played the trial again and loved it, so I bought the full game soon after. I was a killing machine in the trial but understandably the competition was a little tougher in the real thing, so I was languishing in mid-table mediocrity.
Just a few questions: is there a way to play against people of similar or equivalent rank to myself? Is there a training mode I can play so as to learn the maps a little better? I didn't really look for these things as it was about 11.30 last night when I DLd it and I wanted to jump in to a game. Also, does it have perks/upgrades like CoD/Killzone when you rank up? Thanks in advance.

Interview with Battlefield 1943 producer Gordon Van Dyke:

http://g4tv.com/games/pc/61826/battlefi ... ield-1943/
More in the link. PC version delayed till next year then.G4: Does the success of Battlefield 1943 change the direction of the next major Battlefield on the PC?
Dyke: Nope, Battlefield 1943 is its own unique star in the Battlefield universe. It has caught a lot of people's attention that download only games can be more than just an Arcade or Retro style experience.
G4: Why is Battlefield 1943 launching later on the PC? In retrospect, was this the right decision?
Dyke: We haven't released a Frostbite [DICE's game engine] built game on PC, so going into this project we lacked a starting foundation we had on Console. There are also many different and unique only challenges to the PC that has lead to us pushing the release even further to Q1 CY 2010 [early next year].
This was a hard pill to swallow, but it was absolutely needed to ensure the features and functionality that PC Players have come to expect from Battlefield on PC are not missing. Things like support for DirectX 9 and 10, higher player count (up to 32-player matches), wide peripheral support i.e. Joysticks for flying, VoIP, and ranked server provider hosting. So it was and still is the absolutely right decision, for quality sake, to not release until it is ready.
G4: How soon do you expect to roll out downloadable content? If/when new maps come, will they be more remakes or brand new ones? Any new weapons or classes?
Dyke: At this time we have no solid plans for what we would do if we do anything at all.

Though the PC version of DICE's Battlefield 1943 won't be out until sometime next year, the game is now available for preorder on the EA store.
The downloadable game has been priced at $15, a figure in line with the console versions. Unique features of the PC version include 32-player multiplayer matches, joystick support and a server browser.
Originally scheduled to be released simultaneously on all platforms, Battlefield 1943 was eventually delayed to early 2010 on PC, with DICE calling the step necessary "to ensure the features and functionality that PC players have come to expect from Battlefield on PC are not missing."
