may be but there just the hundreth clone of a spider-man game and an action game 10 years ago, respectively. cuz they scored well is just somebodys opinion on something they liked as would a house wife (forgive the stereo typing) would probably say wii fit is a 9/10 because she enjoys that.

there both wrong and it's all shovel ware. going to say you've never played a game like prototype or red faction before? you may enjoy it, it's still shovel ware.

But surely "shovelware" denotes little effort or thaught being put into the product, resulting in a poor end product

From what ive seen of Protoytype, its pure shovleware. it's practically the same as Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. The moves, the running, the wall running, etc.

i'm not going to lie, i am f*cking up my self when it comes to games. i want games pushing boundries from every stand-point.
1.some games are a point in it's genre's=GTA4,
2.some games are beyond point 1. and are a point unto them selves=MGS,
3.some games are point to old school gaming and heritage=street fighter 4,
4.some games are a point to just pushing as HARD as it can=mario, mario would also fall in to point 2.
5.some games are pushing technology graphically or otherwise=crysis (for lack of more time to think, i really gotta go)
6.some games are a point to just fun=super smash bros
7some games are a point in pushing the audience=wii fit,

what is prototype? arguably falls in to point 6. but i haven't got the time.

I'd be interested to know if you've played Carnival Games. This 'shovelware' seems to be a term used on games that don't appeal you. I have little personal interest in Carnival Games but then I also have little interest in MGS4. Both these games arn't my thing, so do I call both these games 'shovelware'?

This is the point I was getting at.

To me The Ninja Bread man and Desperate Housewives on DS are examples of shovelware. Low budget titles, normally at a lower RRP released quickly to cash in on a current trend, normally resulting in a poor game.

Prototype certainly does not fall into this category. Cant comment on Carnival games as I dont really know anything about the title
