 Frank the Rabbit is back. I loved Donnie Darko and can't wait for this sequel, April 28, 2009 can't come any sooner.

From Wikipedia:
Original creator Richard Kelly has stated that he has no involvement in this sequel.
Hmmmm.

Heard about this last year. Donnie Darko's one of my favourites, so I'm looking forward to/dreading this in equal measure. I'm trying to keep positive, but it'll quite obviously be terrible :?

Just had the misfortune to watch this.

It's competently made but completely pointless!

It might as well have been a remake minus the narrative, interest and dialogue.

I nearly bought this the other day. Then didn't. I figured it would probably be a waste of life :?

I saw it advertised in a banner online and expected it to be a stealth cinema release, but alas it was just a straight to Dvd release. Didn't realise it was out so soon though! They certainly kept it quiet! Although i'm not expecting too much from it to be honest. Did the first one really warrant a sequel?

I guess it's just like stuff like American Psycho 2, 8mm 2, all those Wild Things sequels, Cruel Intentions 2 etc- a whole bunch of sequels to theatrical release films, where the company have retained the rights to use the name so crank out straight-to-DVD sequels which usually end up doing pretty decent business anyway. Donnie Darko probably did well enough for them to catch some of that market for this one- out of curiosity only.

According to Wiki, Donnie Darko failed to break even but developed a cult following. It was the cult following that made the studio think they could turn it into a franchise...which they have failed to do really.

I liked American Pyscho 2 better than the original :(

And the original Donnie Darko made no sense to me whatsoever. I have no interest in a sequel.
