NIS America: Sony Isn't Friendly with Small Publishers Like Us "They just care about big Japanese companies"

NIS America, the publisher of franchises such as Disgaea and Danganronpa, does not appear to be all that happy with Sony at the moment. Speaking with MCV about a range of subjects – including its partnership with Nintendo on SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy – president Takuro Yamashita insinuated that the publisher is not on best terms with PlayStation’s third-party people.

“Sony is not friendly with small publishers like us,” he said pointedly. “They just care about big Japanese companies.” To be honest, this is the first time we’re hearing something like this; since the beginning of the generation, PlayStation has been praised for its developer outreach, so we’re curious if something has changed – or if this is just some personal beef.

Yamashita continued that NIS America’s titles on the Nintendo Switch are outselling those on the PS4 by two-to-one when they release simultaneously, although as far as we’re aware, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is the only title to fit his criteria. “A lot of PS4 titles are coming up, so the market is very competitive,” he explained. “The Switch market still has lots of room for publishers to make money.”

All of this has resulted in NIS America signing a deal with Nintendo to make the physical version of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy a Switch exclusive. You’ll still be able to purchase the game on the PS4, but you’ll have to buy it from the PlayStation Store. Proving Yamashita’s previous point, however, the girl-themed brawler is set to release on 7th September – the very same day as Spider-Man.

Bandai Namco Trademarks Xenosaga Episode III Subtitle ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ In The U.S.

We haven’t seen anything related to the Xenosaga series since the arrival of Xenosaga III in 2006, but there’s a possibility that we might be seeing more of it in the future if recent actions Bandai Namco are any indication.

Specifically, the company recently filed a trademark for “Also Sprach Zarathustra” — which just so happens to be the subtitle for the third entry in the Xenosaga series — in the U.S.

So what does mean? The most likely guess is that Bandai Namco is looking to release a Xenosaga trilogy remaster in the future. However, the absence of similar trademarks for “Der Wille zur Macht” (the subtitle for the first entry) and “Jenseits von Gut und Böse” (the subtitle for the second entry), does cast some doubt over the affair.

That said, it’s not like Bandai Namco has ever expressed any level of aversion towards remastering and releasing some of its older titles. In fact, it has almost been a year since Bandai Namco filed a trademark for .hack//G.U. Last Recode before releasing it worldwide several months later. If the .hack//G.U. could get a remaster, then surely Xenosaga could get one too — not only is there demand for it, but the most recent Xeno game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, was well-received.

Nintendo’s next mobile game is an original RPG

Trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cc2ol9m2wg

Out this summer in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, Dragalia Lost looks to be more story-focused than any of Nintendo’s previous mobile titles. The game’s website and trailer, above, are only in Japanese for now, but from what we can tell, there are some warriors and magical creatures going after dragons and crystals and other magical creatures. Standard fantasy RPG fare, in other words.

That’s due in large part to Nintendo’s collaborator Cygames, a studio whose other credits include Japanese mobile hit Granblue Fantasy. Nintendo is smart to shack up with a company like Cygames that’s found continued success with mobile RPGs. Nintendo seems to think so, at least: It’s even acquiring 5 percent of the mobile studio’s stock, according to the company’s latest financial results briefing.

Pre-registration is open to iOS and Android users in the aforementioned territories now, while Western players can expect the game to launch later this year. For something more recognizably Nintendo-related, Mario Kart Tour is still in the works, with an expected launch by the end of the current fiscal year in March 2019.

In a recent announcement, publisher Chucklefish has released a trailer for their new game, Eastward. Featuring an apocalyptic backdrop of a world in ruin and cities in decay, Eastward will be developed by Pixpil, a Shanghai-based developer, and is planned to release on PC and Mac with possible plans for a console release if demand is high enough.

you will be playing as hardworking digger John, who comes across a mysterious girl named Sam in an old research facility and must protect and guide her through dangerous decaying cities and the strange world around them toward an as of yet unknown goal. According to the game’s website, it will be a single player, dual-character adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon elements.

Today Square Enix released a new commercial of its upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive JRPG Octopath Traveler.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cybr4Mwt5w4

Being a commercial, even if destined to the web and not TV, the video is rather brief, and talks about the meaning of playing a role and going on an adventure. Interestingly, it’s in English, even if the video comes from the publisher’s Japanese arm.

Also...

Nintendo had previously a video for the upcoming Octopath Traveler that highlights more from the gameplay and narrative of the anticipated RPG. However, the video itself also gives a closer look at two of the game’s characters, H’aanit the Hunter and Therion the Thief, while also delving into other aspects of the game such as side quests, and much more.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x99ObqWLkYA

The trailer also gives a look at the ways that players can utilize “Path Actions” to influence the direction of quests and other elements of the game, and it certainly gives an enticing look at how players can progress through their journey in so many different ways.

Tales of Vesperia Remaster Website Discovered

Thanks to some super sleuthing from Gematsu, it would appear that Bandai Namco is preparing a Tales of Vesperia-related announcement for E3 2018. Naturally, fans of the Japanese role-playing series have lost their minds over the news.

If you're wondering why that is, it's because Vesperia is widely regarded as one of the best games in the Tales series. However, its presence was stunted here in the West because it was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive. The title did get an enhanced re-release on PlayStation 3, but only in Japan. Western fans have been begging Bandai Namco for some sort of port for years.

And dreams may finally come true in the very near future. According to Gematsu's sources, the publisher is set to reveal a Tales of Vesperia remaster at the Los Angeles expo, and the publication has even discovered a password-protected Japanese website for the game. If all of this turns out to be true, we reckon a PlayStation 4 release is nailed on.

Zanki Zero for PS4 and PC Gets Extensive Gameplay Video

Trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_RTiBy8K5M

The video showcases gameplay, mostly focusing on dialogue scenes of the quirky title coming from the authors of Danganronpa.

The game sees the player taking control of a group of survivors after an apocalypse, as they struggle not only to stay alive (even if they can actually transfer their memories into clones when they die), but also to learn more about themselves and their situation. This goes alongside dungeon-delving JRPG gameplay.
