Who's seen these? I quite like them actually; but if I were Welsh, I'd feel a bit left out. Would it have killed them to put a dragon in there instead of another three lions?

i cant believe you guys like them! theyre so so bad! worst design ive seen since the olympic logo. the young designer they hired to design them has turned our beloved currency into a jigsaw puzzle. the coins don't even tessalate anyway so it looks stupid. The whole idea of splitting the shield up into pieces gives the sense of a fragmented, divided Great Britain. Someone already pointed out that Wales is not included. The coins look imcomplete and messy. Why isn't the two pound coin included? Also none of the coins actually have the numerals on them, only the word. there are no numbers on the coins..! how are tourists and those who are new to the country and unable to read english going to be able tell how much each coin is worth without having to memorise the different shapes? such bad design!
in summary: they are shit.

I'm playing Rad Racer with the power glove and 3D glasses you can't get any more RAD than that.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of these coins but to the above quoted section of what you said i have the following response:giacomo wrote:Also none of the coins actually have the numerals on them, only the word. there are no numbers on the coins..! how are tourists and those who are new to the country and unable to read english going to be able tell how much each coin is worth without having to memorise the different shapes? such bad design!

If people are that retarded to go on holiday without learning the currency before hand they really don't deserve to be going on holiday in the first place
Or would you disagree?
Daniella - "all the girls are "ZOMG" when they see yours too though"
too true
too true
How often do you learn the currency before you go abroad?
Surely you agree that not having an actual numeral on the coins is incredibly shortsighted?
My friend just went to Thailand, imagine if the thai currency (the baht) didnt have numbers on?
so he has to learn Thai to be able to use the currency?
Admittedly English is far, far more widely spoken than Thai, and yes, it's only the coins that are not numbered but IMO its still totally unacceptable.
The coins are very badly designed. The young guy who designed them had no prior experience in coinage. Design is a marriage of aesthetics and function. Aesthetically they're an incoherent mess and when it comes to function they fall far short of the mark.
You surely must agree that it would have been very possible to design a set of coins that look just as radical, modern and interesting, and yet at the same time were perfectly functional and actually sad something about the United Kingdom.
These coins say f*ck all about Great Britain other than "look, our coins are pretty puzzle pieces!"
