Top 20 games list topped by Mario

NES classic takes No.1 spot in consumer-voted â€˜best games in historyâ€™ poll.

Nintendoâ€™s Super Mario Bros has come out on top in a new poll of the greatest games of all time.

The list was voted for by over 2,000 gamers through onepoll.com.

â€˜Old skoolâ€™ titles such as Pac Man, Donkey Kong and Frogger did particularly well in the list.

John Sewell, spokesman for www.onepoll.com, said: "Games which were invented years ago, like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Super Mario and Pac Man all appear in the top ten.

"This shows that classic games will live on forever in the hearts of computer game fans.

"The gaming industry is getting more and more competitive, releasing more and more innovative games by the minute - but this survey proves that sometimes the most simple formats work well to keep game players hooked."

The top five was made up of Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Tetris, The Sims and Sonic The Hedgehog.

According to The Telegraph, the full top 20 reads:

5. Sonic the Hedgehog

6. Space Invaders

7. Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas

8. Donkey Kong

9. Mario Kart 64

10. Grand Theft Auto - Vice City

11. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

12. Wii Sports

13. Final Fantasy

14. Gran Turismo

15. Lemmings

16. Frogger

17. Pokemon, Red, Blue and Green

18. Street Fighter II

19. Wii Play-What????

20. Guitar Hero

Yeah, and San Andreas is the only GTA to make it in? I call shennanigans, where is Super Mario World? Don't tell me every gamer in the world likes Super Mario Bros better? And if I'm not mistaken Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is a film not a game.

I'm guessing its more of a general public poll than a dedicated gamers poll to be honest, despite what the article says. Therefore "Super Mario Bros" could probably be translated as someone just putting "Mario"

Frogger was never good.

The list is to vague. Which Final Fantasy? I also add which Pac-Man, Tetris, Sonic, Space Invaders and SFII are they refering too. I'm a padantic bugger and this means nothing to me.
