I don't think it looks that bad to be honest. For a film that is obviously aimed at little 'uns it's not that bad.
I uber disagree with this as well. There is no way to take a cartoon with the style of Dragon Ball Z and turn it into a decent live action movie. It is as impossible as eating the moon.... It could have been so good. If only they cared.
What about Casshern? The fighting in that was Dragonball-esque.Bob Syko wrote:I uber disagree with this as well. I declare that you have no imagination.Bob Syko wrote:I uber disagree with this as well. There is no way to take a cartoon with the style of Dragon Ball Z and turn it into a decent live action movie. It is as impossible as eating the moon.
Agreed. two words: Sin Cityleeray666 wrote:I declare that you have no imagination.Bob Syko wrote:I uber disagree with this as well. There is no way to take a cartoon with the style of Dragon Ball Z and turn it into a decent live action movie. It is as impossible as eating the moon.
I've got Casshern on DVD, it's awesome. To be honest I still don't know exactly what's going on, but it's still the most beautiful looking film I've ever seen. It would be the reason I ever bought a Blu-ray player (PS3). It makes quite good points about humans as a species too, and it has a lovely looking Asian lady too. All the components that make up an awesome film.leeray666 wrote:Have you seen it? Is it any good?
Aye, Casshern was very good. However, I don't just mean the fights, I mean the over the top acting, I mean the 'comedy' if it can be called that, the colourful characters, everything that makes a lot of anime so enjoyable just doesn't work when you put it in live action so you either have to have a really serious film which misses the point of the original completely, or, a really bright, stupid film that makes you cringe for an hour and a half.meu02136 wrote:What about Casshern? I must confess that I have never read the Sin City comic, does it really have themes similar to Dragon Ball though? It seems highly unlikely I must say.Agreed. two words: Sin City
I take your point, though I don't think it's entirely impossible. Mind you I'm sure that this film would make me cringe if I was to see it anyway, so I'd prefer if they tried to be faithful and cringe-worthy over what we do have.Bob Syko wrote:I mean the 'comedy' if it can be called that, the colourful characters, everything that makes a lot of anime so enjoyable just doesn't work when you put it in live action so you either have to have a really serious film which misses the point of the original completely, or, a really bright, stupid film that makes you cringe for an hour and a half.
It doesn't really have any similar themes. Though it's an example of a movie faithfully representing the comic. It's practically the same. Though it doesn't mean that it's a great film. I can't see any other link between the mentioning of this and Dragonball other than this really.Bob Syko wrote:I must confess that I have never read the Sin City comic, does it really have themes similar to Dragon Ball though? I hope not, I've bought it now.toneeblair wrote:Casshern was TOSS!!!!
