Yes, sunday just gone, the RAW after wasn't that great IMO but the PPV was superb, particularly Punk V Cena, the MITB matches were good also.

It's nice to see Punk as WWE Champion and being taken seriously, but giving Cena a fake Championship too is pretty dumb to be honest.

Can they go for one minute without the guy being in the main event at all?

Cena is so bloody dull, Punk's return this week on RAW was a big surprise to me as I hadn't read any spoilers etc, I was well annoyed to see Cena win the bloody title again and then out walks Punk to Cult Of Personnality by Living Color....

Seconded.

In relation to the spoiler though - I was disappointed. I didn't know the theme music from the Indy circuit so was completely thrown off by it.
Would have liked it to be Jericho though - that would have thrown EVERYONE.

This is the second thread I'm going to try and revive - although I can see this one dropping like a lead balloon as there arent many wrestling/MMA fans on here are there?

First off - Survivor Series this Sunday - The Rock's return to the ring, Team Barrett Vs. Team Orton, Mark Henry (in the BEST run of his career) vs. Big Show for the title, ADR Vs. CM Punk for the WWE title. Is anyone else even a little bit interested in this?

If the matches are done right, it could be the best PPV since MITB (in my eyes at least).

Second, Velvet Sky (TNA), I know she looks like a shlaaaagggg when coming to the ring, but I can't help thinking she's ridiculously good eye candy, and perfect wrestling eye candy specifically (ie not stick thin and has at least a small amount of wrestling ability a la the WWE Divas). Trying to move away from being too much of a letch regarding her - is there anyone else in wreslting people can think in the wrestling world who are a perfect fit for their roles? Past or present?

I thought they had got rid of the Survivor Series PPV for some reason. Good to see it is not gone as wresling in general needs more elimination matches.

TNA's PPV last week was really rubbish though. It was just the most generic thing ever. Too many of the TNA PPVs are totally unthemed and essentially interchangeable and so they can be very boring. I can't even remember the PPV name

In terms of divas, I think Eve annoys me the most. Something about her moonsault (and standing moonsault) just looks really, really wrong. It's like she keeps her legs too stiff or something and it looks very awkward every time it happens.

Nah, they were gonna get rid of SS, possibly due to Bragging Rights basically being the same format except with that ridiculous trophy up for grabs between Raw and SD, but they actually listened to the 'WWE Universe' for once and decided against killing it.

I won't be buying it on Box Office (the only one I actually shell out for nowadays is WM) but I may try and watch it at some point along the way.

You're right about TNA's PPV's though, but why do they NEED to have gimmick/themed PPV's? I actually think it harms some of WWE's PPV's (see Hell in a Cell, and TLC, for me those types of matches should be the blow-off to end a big feud, not just something to try and get the fans interested), although the Destination X and Lockdown PPV's are always consistently good from TNA... And yes, I'm aware I just contradicted myself completely on that point!!

Eve - she's another one I love the look of, again because she's not stick thin. I hate the likes of Maryse, Michelle McCool, The Bella Twins who all look like they're gonna snap if you bend them the wrong way. While I get that a lot of the Diva/Knockout stuff is done for male interest, I at least want to be able to suspend my disbelief when I watch wrestling, and I can't do that while all these Barbie Dolls get in the ring against someone who looks like she could quite easily break ME in two, never mind them (ie Natalya and Beth Phoenix, and Kharma when she comes back after popping her baby out!).

I've never noticed Eve's moonsault before, but now you mention it, it does look a little stiff, like she's thinking it through too much. I've just took a look at Kurt Angle's moonsault on YouTube, and he bends his knees as he does is so it could well be that she's missing!

And thank you for agreeing Snaggletooth, Mrs Regemond doesn't understand it, neither does one of my mates, so it's good to see somebody on my side!!

Think im going to get SS though quite why its called that is beyond me with only one traditional match.

Going to be intresting to see how the Rock performs, not sure how that ones going to play out, thoygh I think Miz & R Truth will win as either the Rock or Cena will turn on each other.

The tradtional SS match should be good as well but you would have thought that it would have been team Rhodes rather than Barrett as he's been fueding with Orton recently.

Other match of note is The US strap, Ziggler whos pulling double duty for the 2nd PPV has had the strap for a good while now, I think if Morrison doesnt win then its a cert he hasnt renewed his contract. Also why isnt it Rydet in the match after all its been held in MSG.

I still watch WWE Raw and ocassionally Smackdown too, I watch their "PPV's" if they're on Sky Sports and always shell out for Wrestlemania, I was very tempted by SS this year, only for The Rock really, but resisted so I could buy ESPN this month instead ~ now I am able to watch UFC again! started watching it at UFC 51 on Bravo then stopped at 100 when it went over to ESPN and I was reluctant to buy it at the time, i'm really glad to be watching it again though, I thoroughly enjoyed UFC 138 and it made me regret not buying ESPN sooner. I also watch Impact Wrestling every week and the monthly TNA PPV's ~ much better than WWE at the moment, the wrestling is leagues ahead of WWE and that IMO is what it's all about, not bloody Muppets. I still watch WWE because it does have the ocassional great moment [normally from CM Punk] and I hope that one day Vince will find his grapefruits and also remember how great the product used to be.

OK rather than commenting on current events/storylines (as I'm about a month behind) I have a question;

What wrestling stereotypes annoy you?

My main one is that any wrestlers from Enlgand are either "Brought up on the mean streets of...", "Learned to fight by bare knuckle fighting in..." or a combination of the 2.

See: Wade Bar-ruh and William Regal. Manchester and Blackpool respectively according to WWE and both comments have been used for both wrestlers.

Obviously the all-American patriot stereotype is somewhat lost on me, as it probably is everywhere outside the US. The heel version can be entertaining but the faces are generally sickening.

Not so much a stereotype but more of a style - I hate wrestlers who get the crap beaten out of them and then come back to win out of nowhere. Matt Hardy was exceptionally bad at this in WWE where he would get beat down for ten minutes before beforming a single Twist of Fate to get the pin. John Cena can be another example.

Ayway, in TNA at the moment the knockouts division seems to have gone totally schizo. A few weeks ago Karen Jaret was mad at the slutty face knockouts for using their exposed flesh and whorish antics to pander to the fans. Now she has scheduled a lingerie match to 'punish' the faces. Cue the faces complaining about lowest-common denominators and being exploited like meat whilst coming to the ring in clothes that look not at all dissimilar to their regular wrestling gear. Brooke looked pouty but then performs her normal striptease ring entrance with a big grin on her face. Meanwhile the predominently male audience is presumably supposed to be supporting the faces' feminist cause whilst oggling their underwear. What the hell is going on?

In all fairness - 95% of TNA's booking is nuts... Why book Boobby Roode to lose to Kurt Angle, only to have James Storm take the title off him then have Bobby Roode win it anyway 2 weeks later? I get they wanted to turn Bobby Roode heel but having James Storm hold the title for 2 weeks just devalues the strap.

And in all fairness, when it comes to the knockouts, I USED to watch it for the wrestling (Awesome Kong vs Gail Kim feud for example), but now it's just the divas division all over again. Not that I'm complaining when it comes to Velvet Sky and Winter of course, but you get my point!! I do think they need to go back to real talent though - ODB, Mickie James, Gail Kim, Tara. Make them the focal point of the divsion and they're onto a winner!!

The 'All American' thing is completely lost on us, but don't forget that the majority of the US has a weird view where virtually no other countries exist... Hence Canadians generally booing any All American personas! Kurt Angle played it so well though - I know he did it as a heel, but the milk truck, Team Angle, everything about him was just pure entertainment. Hell, even with Austin and the "Jimmy Cracked Corn" bit, I was in stitches.

Agree with the annoying American stereotype characters..on a slightly related note, has anyone played the new WWE'12? On one of the stories, there's a fictional stable called the 'United Kingdom' (consisting of Sheamus, Barrett, McIntyre and Regal) that basically beats the crap out of everyone in the true British way :) I'd like to see this in the real WWE (with Mason Ryan too so Wales is represented) just for the novelty factor of a UK group.

Obviously if they ever did this Super Cena would eventually just destroy them all, but it would be good for a limited time :)
