Recently I have been listening to Love a lot.
I can thank Meu for getting me into them, he posted their picture in one of the guess the game puzzles. And I thought "Hmm, looks like a good band" and they are fucking brilliant!

Yeah, I saw them at King Tuts in Glasgow when they toured again, five years ago or so. Great stuff, Arthur Lee was one of a kind.

I like all sorts of music to a degree, and will listen to different kinds depending on the situation / mood. There's not too much that i'd dismiss, and like almost everything for what it is.
Like
My main loves are Rock / Metal / Punk / Emo; Indie; And Euphoric Trance. I'm not going to break it down any more than that.
I'm fond of the classic "Brit Pop" from the 90's (Blur; Oasis; Ocean Colour Scene; Garbage; Pulp; Sleeper etc), and it's modern day equivilent (Razorlight; Kaiser Chiefs; Hard Fi et al).
As far as Rock / Punk / Metal / Emo... Anything goes really. Basicly your "Kerrang generation" music, which includes Linkin Park; Marilyn Manson; Green Day; Nirvana; Blink 182; Violent Delight; Fall Out Boy; System Of A Down; My Chemical Romance; Smashing Pumpkins; Skunk Anansie; Placebo; Korn; Muse... The list goes on and on, but you get the idea
As far as "Dance" music goes, I mainly prefer the Euphoria style opposed to your traditional "House" music. I also like your mainstream "Ministry Of Sound" style as well, but these tend to be simple flavours of the month tracks that get forgotton about in a short space of time, unlike your classic Ibiza trance anthems!
Dislike
I cannot stand the sort of music you hear beating out of passing Citroen Saxo's. Speed Garage / Hardcore Bass etc, whatever you want to label it. The sort of shit you'd associate that plonker Tim Westwood with. That's pretty much all I can say I refuse to listen to, as it just does my head in.
R&B ~ There are some songs I like, but I couldn't listen to them all the time. I wouldn't say I dislike this type of music, but it's something I really have to be in the mood for, but would rather go to a Emo & Nu-metal club full of goth girls and heroin than one which was full of bling bling and golddiggers... It's simply a lifestyle thing
Let's put it this way, of the 1,000+ tracks I currently have on my phone, about 2% are R&B, roughly 10% is trance, and the rest is Indie / Metal / Punk etc...

I'm currently listening to Ys by Joanna Newsom again and again. Also, I'm playing Comfort Eagle by Cake quite a bit.
I'm also listening to 'Hafan', an incredible CD released by my tutor! Here's one of her pieces:

That's an astonishing album, never heard a voice like hers before.
My tastes in music are mainly centered around every possible side of guitar music, singer songwriters and some electronic.
This week I have been mostly enjoying:
Of Montreal
Battles
Oceansize
Mastodon
Justice (the new Daft Punk. Except, dare I say it, better..)
Sufjan Stevens
Broken Social Scene
Deftones
The Maccabees

You my good man have brilliant musical taste, only heard Of Montreal doing a Fiery Furnaces cover, but it was ace. Battles new album might be my album of the year if Interpol can't top it and Battles also might be my gig of the year and maybe in my top 10 of all time. Justice are ridiculously good. Deftones are one of the only bands I am still into from my Kerrang years back when I was 15. First Love was such a good single not botherd with the album yet, Maccabees were also my 1st gig of the year at King Tuts.
What do you think of Foals?

Are Battles the ones with the Munchkins song or is that someone else?

I'm listening to LCD Soundsystem, QOTSA, The Arcade Fire and bits of CSS and Louis XIV at the moment.
I also like a bit of Blur, Bloc Party and Flaming Lips. Its not that unusual but when the only musical inspiration you get for 8 hours a day is Radio 1 then this is the best I can do.

OMG some-one else that has actualy heard of M83, I thought I was the only one. What do you think of Efterklang and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Just got GYBE's double disc album yesterday,Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. Very good, but total headphones on and in your house kinda music, not walking around a shity town called Paisley listening to it on your MP3 kinda music.
Mogwai are just the best in that genre of music. Glasgow Megasnake has to be one of the best tracks in the whole history of music.

Yeah Battles are fantastic. They're not for everyone though!
