I really enjoyed the show. I don't think it was his point to say anything about people who watch Big Brother though. Brooker's mentioned it before.onewild wrote:For my thoughts go here Oh look a handy plug of my blog as well
The one thing that bugged me was how everyone attacked came back as zombies.
I mean if a pack of ravenous zombies pounce on someone you would imagine that they would tear the victim up to the point of them not being able to resurrect. Alas in Dead Set characters would get attacked by a pack of zombies one second then emerge (as a zombie themselves) with a minor cut to the face a few minuets later. It’s like the zombies lost the initial ‘fresh meat’ enthusiasm as soon as the victim fell.
Saying that though, I really enjoyed it, about time we had a Walking Dead series now!

Nice and gory ending to Dead Set, lots of body trauma. Brilliant show throughout and a great little piss-take from Brooker at the end with the last thing on TV being shown: Zombie Big Brother being watched by zombies.
Will definitely be buying the DVD.

You'll find thats pretty much a standard in about every Zombie film ever made.James wrote:The one thing that bugged me was how everyone attacked came back as zombies.

The dismembering of Patrick actually made my mouth open in shock at the amount of gore. I even felt a little sick.Rosetinted Gamer wrote:Nice and gory ending to Dead Set, lots of body trauma. Was that the producer wanker? I'm really bad with character names. That was akin to the end of the horrible army guy in Day of the Dead. They ripped him in half and dragged his top torso off, and all the while he was screaming 'choke on it!!!' Classic moment.Games!!! wrote:

I wonder if that was the bit Charlie Brooker was on about - he watched some of the final cuts and said he felt incredibly queasy watching one particular scene.

No it isn't. The Romero films killed off anyone who was attacked by a large group. In most cases the only people who turned into zombies were the ones who had small wounds but had managed to escape being torn to shreds. It doesn’t make sense to have someone half eaten to death then resurrect as a whole corpse. But heck, this is just fiction so its all up in the air at the end of the day, and in the end Dead Set did a decent job. How long before the usual American remake I wonder?Rosetinted Gamer wrote:

Goreiest scence for me was when that producer bloke was cutting up that Big Brother contestant. At one point he held up an arm where the hand was intact but the arm itself had been cleaned to the bone.
Really reminded me of "Men Behind The Sun" that bit.

I'm sure this has already been discussed elsehwere, but I can't find th right thread. Anyway, I got Vol 4 of The Walking Dead for Xmas. Have you guys read it? What a shocker!!
*SPOILER*
It was absolutely gut wrenching watching everyone get mown down, but particularly the frame where his wife and newborn child are shot almost in half as they're trying to escape the prison complex. I can't really describe how I felt when I saw it; it was a real spike through the heart. Such an affecting end to the book. I'm almost loath to read vol 5 when it comes out, 'cos I'm not sure I can take much more.
Bloody classic series, with the emphasis on 'bloody'.

The good thing is that the series seems really refreshed now and the latest bunch of issues (since the end of the prison arc...
) have been some the best.
Finally got to see Dead Set, enjoyed it a lot but watched it on DVD in one sitting, would perhaps have been better to see it over a series of nights as it felt more like a really long zombie film than a TV show. Bonus points for the girlfriend sitting down to watch it five minutes in and thinking it was a show about Big Brother. A classic WTF look on her face when all hell broke lose

You think? I’ve been thinking the opposite of late, that the series has lost some of the flow it had going, but then again I suppose that brings it in line with Rick’s fragile mind at this point in time. I did love the telephone though.rumblecat wrote:The good thing is that the series seems really refreshed now and the latest bunch of issues (since the end of the prison arc...) have been some the best.
