How can it be 'unconstitutional' to follow the results of the referendum? You make the laws you fucking assclowns, how can anything you do be unconstitutional? I can't believe how much public money they waste on this sort of bullshit.

I'm thinking that had they done the referendum vote based on parliamentary constituency areas then it would have been a clear step that each MP would then vote in accordance with what their constituents wanted - however as far as I'm aware the referendum was just a just an open vote and whilst they've revealed regional voting results, they haven't/can't/wont' do it by constituency.

Funniest thing today is the headline in the Daily Mail website about the OUTRAGE that is the ATTEMPT AT SUBVERSION OF THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE by an OPENLY GAY EX-FENCING OLYMPIAN JUDGE.

The BBC was showing the results by constituency afterwards so that information is available. It seems like far too simple a solution though so I can't see them going for it.shinymcshine wrote:I'm thinking that had they done the referendum vote based on parliamentary constituency areas then it would have been a clear step that each MP would then vote in accordance with what their constituents wanted - however as far as I'm aware the referendum was just a just an open vote and whilst they've revealed regional voting results, they haven't/can't/wont' do it by constituency.

Blame the morons who drafted the legislation.Bilge Rat wrote:How can it be 'unconstitutional' to follow the results of the referendum? You make the laws you fucking assclowns, how can anything you do be unconstitutional? I can't believe how much public money they waste on this sort of bullshit.
It needed an Act of Parliament to set up a referendum.
And that Act did not make the result legally binding.
This is actually a win for democracy.
It allows ordinary people to challenge a Government decision.
It prevents them using the Royal Perogative to force something through, which could have given ministers too much power.

It's giving the government a chance to change the ordinary people's decision. It's the exact opposite?merman wrote:This is actually a win for democracy.

That DM page reads almost as an incitement to violence. Fucking tone deaf.
Anyway it's British law passed by British lawmakers which is surely consistent with the spirit of Brexit. MPs are not likely to vote against their constituents anyway

It's not about STOPPING Brexit, it's about giving Parliament a say in HOW Brexit is carried out.Bilge Rat wrote:It's giving the government a chance to change the ordinary people's decision. It's the exact opposite?merman wrote:This is actually a win for democracy.
