That's why I said it'd be interesting to see if that tipping point remains the same or gets younger or older as time passes.
I love stats. I could look at trends of stuff for hours.

Re: Doomed, we're all Doomed : And yet the world still turns.
Sunday again, so here's what wrong with the world this week...
Labour.
fascinating to see that the hard left is cooperating with rogue foreign governments so openly this week...
Iranian TV station banned in UK shows footage of Labour vote : https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... party-vote
To pretend that the Iranian press member somehow not only knew about the vote but gained entry without inside help is farcical.
More Iranian influence comes with the news that Yasmine Dar is a new member of the NEC executive committee, she replaces Ann Black a Labour member of 40 years to her 5.
Dar has been an enthusiastic attendee to the annual celebration of the islamic Iranian revolution for several years now, and at the latest advent she was even allowed to speak (the only woman allowed to do so), sadly her fellow sisters might have had problems hearing her given they where segregated to the back of the meeting.
but you know, when in Rome etc.
Interesting piece by David (life long labour man) Aaronovitch, which was basically a lament on the death of labour as a centrist party.
He defines it now as...
"The main battle now is between Momentum and what might be called Provisional Momentum*.
Its pragmatic McDonnellisim verses Corybnism, a struggle between those who think a few friendly (if insincere) gestures to mainstream voters are worth making to get labour elected on its radical economic programme, and those who think even that represents a terrible sell out."
* fanatics Vs. massive fanatics.
Labour.
sleepery jeem wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:23 pmMeanwhile Labour MP for Enfield North Joan Ryan has been targeted for re-selection by members of her local party after she has dared to criticize his Holiness JC.
She replied...
"I joined the labour party 34 years ago to fight racism.
Antisemitism is racism.
Nothing will stop me standing up and speaking out.It is my duty to do so.
This bullying, this vindictive behaviour will never stop me doing what is right.
That's why I have been vocal in my condemnation of the anti-Semitism which has engulfed our party."

Russia next.
been a great week to watch RT and all the useful idiots they've trotted out to decry the murder of an English woman (and her man as well by the look of it sadly) by anyone BUT Russia.
But Bravo to May, she's failing pretty much everywhere else but here at least she still has some authority.
I've posted enough on this already, all more that can be said is that i'm not sure that Putrid would have gave the direct order on this one and that much like the killers of flight MH17 those two smiling assassins have with luck already been killed.

To Sweden now (with a hint of Russian skulduggery as usual)
Well today Sweden goes to the polls, and most polls are suggesting a large turnout for "reformed fascist party" The Swedish Democrats
Wiki : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_g ... tion,_2018
The Dems are campaigning on immigration and crime and look to get 20% of the vote a major chunk in this proportional representation country.
Crime stats : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Sweden (as you like this stuff Sly)
And of course Putrid just had to lend a helping hand with news of Russian bot attacks on Swedish footballer Jimmy Durmaz, and inviting far right leader (Alternative for Sweden) Mikael Jannson to Moscow.

China.
Good news from the US as Congress is pushing forward with new laws to punish countries that downgrade relations with Taiwan to curry favour with China.
China has financially bullied everyone from British Airways to a Spanish University : https://www.insidehighered.com/quicktak ... objections and many of the countries that it has loaned cash to such as most recently Gambia : https://news.webindia123.com/news/Artic ... 29040.html
In its efforts to isolate Taiwan one of the few prosperous democracies in the region, and China also threatened the UK with economic reprisals this week after the Royal Navy refused to kowtow to Chinese orders whilst traveling legally in internationally recognized waters.

One-armed dwarf wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 10:07 amThe Bob Woodward book says stuff like many of the Trump admin are not really working for him but acting as bulwarks between him and the country he's supposed to be leading, protecting it from him.
As for Woodwards book, meh, I challenge any one who has a boss to deny they don't bad mouth them behind their back.
We all b### and moan about those above us, and if you don't then there's something very, very wrong with you.
Trump still has a 46% approval rating (NBC news poll) ranking above Obama at the same stage in his presidency no less, his core vote is estimated to account for just 20% of voters, but it looks like more Americans approve of Trump not out of blind loyalty but more that they have more faith in him than the establishment to do something for them.
Remember America is a broad country with many views, we here only see a portion of what is happening over there and most of that through a centre left progressive prism from the larger costal city based news channels, we don't see the local news stations that have populations the size of London that cover only half of one US state.
So to think we can paint with broad strokes how we judge the American population as a whole is kinda dumb.
Take the recent news about the new film about the Apollo Moon Landings, now here was a massive event in American history, one that cost great treasure and blood to fulfil, yet the film wont be featuring Neil Armstrong planting the American flag on the moon
Why the hell not
To denigrate such an achievement at the alter of political correctness and inclusion is an insult to those that died and is one that many American will find insulting.

I don't get what any of that has to do with Trump's own people trying to subvert him though. People he chose

Subvert or advise
, until this new deep throat stands up we are expected to take it on faith they are telling the truth, no leader makes every decision off their own cuff.
The White House has around 500 people that can call themselves senior advisors from simple department heads to dozens of under sectaries and finally sectaries of state etc., assuming DT2 is telling the truth and actually works there and is in the Oval office daily there is still the issue of interpretation of events.
Everyone interprets events in their own way, rewatch some old West Wing episode and you'll see the Leo Mcgarry character decide whether or not something is worth the presidents attention, couldn't we argue that Macgarry is doing the same thing but as its Trump we see it as a dangerous flaw rather than good governance.
On a side note what I've read Trump has so far signed around 50 laws most of which that he said he would during the election campaign from tax cuts to protecting whistleblowers.

WRT the interpretation of events I haven't seen more than one episode of West Wing but it doesn't sound similar to the example described. If you take DeepThroat 2 at his word then he uses words like 'thwarting', not 'guiding' or 'advising'.
It also aligns with the stuff that's leaked about that Woodward book, which is out today.
It sounds like subversion to me anyway. Also I would like to watch West Wing but fucking Now TV dropped it I think.

They just cancelled the Trump visit to Ireland. Not a good thing I think. Let him visit and have a bit of an ol protest while he plays golf.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politic ... -1.3625721
It was cancelled by the President it looks like but I don't buy this spiel that it was because of protests. Trafalgar Square was filled to the brim with people.
edit: The visit would have been right around the mid-terms, so it's a bit of a chaotic period to be in Ireland of all places.

Fact is 83% of votes cast were against the far-right party. And the left of centre party made the biggest gains.
Of course, it is important to point out that this "extreme" far-right party was asked to align itself in a right-wing alliance in the European Parliament... With the British Conservative MEPs.
