@merman1974

I tweet about the C64, retro gaming, Crohns and a fair bit of politics...

I deleted my Twitter. The amount of racist and bigots on both sides of the political aisle did my head in. That place is a worst cesspool then Reddit.

I think it depends on who you follow. Most of mine are games related or celebs, and neither are particularly racist or bigots :wink:
Could certainly do with some more control that's for sure.

All I follow is gaming stuff and my feed still gets political shit. Maybe it's my fault for following so many indie devs and games journalist.

I was pretty disappointed with the UK public's New Year greetings for our Prime Minister. Shameful tbh, despite what your political stance is.

Yes, but he is an utter git. His "New Year message" basically said sod off to anyone opposing his "policies", he's going to continue wrecking the country regardless...

Well that is just it Jax. While Twitter was an awesome place for techies, especially the open source community, but the platform has devolved into a very political platform - a lot of the time with revisionist history, where even ignorant fools can tweet their hot take in 140 characters or less. Even if they have little to no knowledge of the topic at hand.

And even if you don’t follow them they still show up in your feed, because they follow a person/company/game that you follow.

Also, Twitter seem hell bent on putting hastags that have nothing to do with anything I’m following in the now trending section.

Twitter is a service based on the trust of its users. It has lost my trust as a reliable service. I hope for a mass exodus from the platform in 2016/2017. Hopefully something better and more useful will rise from its ashes.

I know you like your politics, I read your tweets :wink: but
(a) I don't agree he's an utter git and
(b) That's still no way to talk to anyone unless they're a murderous dictator.

Twitter is on the decline anyway. They're consistently failed to demonstrate any real tangible growth to their investors.

Of course, you can think it. You can say it as well if you want but some may think less of you for making such comments.
Unless you can back up the opinion with political fact.
I think most of the time, the Tory slagging off is just jumping on the Bandwagon.

I think so too, actually. I was going to give the vote to the local tory candidate in Richmond (who is also running for mayor now) but didn't due to lack of being properly informed and also being too lazy.
