Yeah, but with all the time dilation and shit that goes on in Mid-World it probably wouldn't be too much of a problem to cover it up and still stay relatively true to the books. They really do need a good actor for him though, I would imagine Jake being the toughest role to play.

I think Naomie Harris would make a perfect Susannah. Still not dead chuffed with the almost-certain Javier Bardem cast but I'll probably learn to live with it. Eddie will be an interesting one - he's my favourite character and I have a very strong view in my mind of what he should look like, but I genuinely can't think of an actor who could portray him according to my image, which is a bit odd.

I don't know why I'm bothering, it's probably going to be awful anyway

As I was reading the books my Eddie was Sam Rockwell, so if they cast him I'll be giddy with delight. Not sure about Susannah, I'd be pretty happy with Rosario Dawson just because I like looking at her.

lol so weird, thats who i said eddie would be in an earlier reply! Yeah i think he would be excellent as Eddie, a bit eccentric and dark too. Rosario dawson is a great choice for susannah than zoe saldana.

No idea who Naomie Harris was til i googled her but now i recognise her i reckon she'll make a good susannah- same reason as sam rockwell - they arent the 'prettiest' choices. not unattractive, but they arent the typical good looks you normally see on screen

That sucks. On the upside, I just started reading the final book today. Good times. :)

Bah, that news sucks! Especially because I'd just heard some pretty good news, that apparently Norman Reedus is playing Eddie. Not my first choice but I like Reedus and can see him doing a good job of it. If he gets to do it now obviously.

ach. would like to see this come to fruition- even if it was in that harry potter kinda way where they dont stand on their own as films, but work well as 'visual companion' pieces to the books

Stephen King’s Dark Tower is coming to HBO
Good news, fans of epically long Stephen King sagas! The hefty King series The Dark Tower will be getting the HBO treatment. This is a good thing, as HBO is really the only place with the budget and patience to take on such a long, complicated story.

HBO broke the news from producer Brian Grazer, who confirmed there will be yet another fantasy series on the channel that gave us Game of Thrones and True Blood:

"We're going to do [The Dark Tower] with HBO," Grazer told [HBO]. "We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with… to be determined. We'll do it right. We're going to do that movie. We've lost $45 million out of the budget, he said. When people say no to you enough, then you have to lose money, which we've done without harming the scope of the film."

So it sounds like Dark Tower had to lose money to get what they wanted. Hell, as long as the much rumored Javier Bardem is still up for the role of Roland Deschain, the mysterious Gunslinger, we're still invested.
