Post When You Buy Random Crap!

Post by Aghatha » Sun Sep 26, 2010 11:01 am

Bob has told me that a thread like this hasn't been started before so I figured it is worth a shot. This thread is dedicated to all of the non-gaming things the good folks of the forum have bought or are even about to buy. It can be anything... a new computer, a car, magazines, DVDs, porn, pets, music, comedy anvils, TNT, giant slingshots, etc. I just think it's great to have a place to post and talk about items everyone has bought or is going to buy that aren't directly related to gaming. Feel free to post pictures too... I can't because my items haven't come in yet.

Here goes:

Today I ordered several DVDs from Amazon. They are way cheaper to buy on the UK site than any Australian site that I have seen, and so far every DVD I have ordered from there has worked fine. The DVDs I have ordered are The Changeling, I Know Who Killed Me (one of the worst, most hilarious horror/thrillers I have ever seen), Clive Barker's Book of Blood, The Dark and The Entity. I have seen 3 of the movies, and the other two (The Changeling and Book of Blood) have been recommended to me by forum members so I am really looking forward to checking them out.

That's it for the first post. *crosses fingers* I hope this thread is of some use to everyone.

Just bought this for my bro as one of his xmas presents.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stewart-Lee-Sta ... 554&sr=8-5

It's so cheap it's a crime not to buy it. One of my favorite comedians, severely underrated and actually not-that-well-off due to the massive losses incurred, when the mental extremist Christians of Britain practically shut down his Jerry Springer the Opera.
So, get this DVD yourselves and support this genius of comedy... He really does need the money.

I saw his Silver Stewbilee show last month and it was excellent. The highlight was at the end when he sang the Mission of Burma song How I Escaped My Certain Fate with Franz Ferdinand. I met him afterwards too, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. If you haven't seen Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle then I thoroughly recommend that too.

I reeeeaaallllly want to see him live, but at the moment I can't justify the expense. I was considering going to see him in Brighton in October, but I think I'll make it a plan to see him next year instead.
I've seen Comedy Vehicle, yes. He's getting a second series... I can't wait.

I've got all his books and DVDs. I even have a Fist of Fun annual. He's a bloody superb comedian.

I bought some random crap today. First of all, I had to buy a single ticket back home to Cardiff from London 'cos I lost the first one I bought. That was £35 down the tubes, thanks to my own bloody stupidity. I also had to buy some random gifts for the kids and missus while I was there, to make up for the fact I wasn't there to tuck them into bed this evening. So in the morning they'll be proud owners of a souvenir die-cast 3D model of various landmarks that doubles as a pencil sharpener, a red bus, a black cab and a (very) small box of fudge from Fortnum and Masons.
