The way it works is that there's words that can't be translated across languages. Like in Irish we don't even have a word for 'Yes'.

Well it's not Pig Latin.

In Irish, we also don't have a word for 'Hello'.

We say 'Dia duit'. (Deeah Dwit)

This means 'God be with you'.

Reply is 'Dia is Muire Duit. (God and Mary etc)

Cultures are weird. 竜戦士 probably doesn't exist in our language

I'm gonna guess that Dragon Quest isn't a direct translation but it looks like the Dragon Warrior kanji is.

EDIT: Nah, it could actually be the other way round. Throwing 竜戦士 into Google Translate says it's 'Gentleman'. I guess I can see why it may be linked to 'Dragon Warrior' as well. Like, if you were trying to be flattering and respectful to someone you could use a term that brings up images of strength and honour.

'Doragonkuesuto' honestly just sounds like a foreign word interpreted through katakana. If English used a different alphabet and still had words like poltergeist and kindergarten in its vocabulary it would turn out similarly I'd presume.

'Ryū senshi' sounds like proper Japanese. I mean pretty much everyone knows that Ryū either means something like 'dragon' in Japanese or is at least as similar to the word as it gets. Pretty much every game with some sort of dragon character features the word (Street Fighter, Breath of Fire, Ryū ga Gotoku etc.).
