Maximum capacity SD card for Wii?

I know when the Wii first came out it only supported a maximum or 2GB SD Card, but I read somewhere that the newer firmware updates allowed for larger capacity SD cards, and even the use of Micro SD cards as well. Can someone confirm whether this rumour is true?

I would like to know:

1) What is the maximum capacity SD card a Wii can acknowledge - Previously 2GB, but is it capped at 4GB / 8GB, or can anything upto 16GB be used?

2) Whether or not Micro SD cards with an adapter can be used - If so, what is the maximum capacity for these?

I can confirm 2GB micro SD cards work as thats what I used to get homebrew on there.

Not sure about the rest though.

i remember it saying (at the time of update) that it will now take SDHC cards up to 32gb. Not sure if they need to be a specific speed class though, doubt it.

It's actually Micro SD's I am more interested in, as I have a stash of them lying around which I can easily use, ranging from 2GB to 16GB. Didn't really fancy having to go out and buy an SD card specifically for the Wii when I have a load of Micro SD's which I can use in almost everything else

yep, no problem at all with those either...again up to 32gb if you are fully up to date. You can use mini SD with adapters too.
