First your game saves can be transferred via USB drive or external hard drive.maf-me-quick wrote:hey guys, i got my PS3 slim through today, and i was wondering if any one knows how i can get my saved games and trophies off of my old PS3, or if it's even possible. or do i have to play through all them games again? As for your trophies, you need to sync them useing your fatty PS3. After that sign onto PSN with your details on the Slim and re-sync the trophies with your PSN ID.
If your going to trade in your fatty I would log into PSN and deactivate your account on that PS3.

my fat PS3's never been online, and i hooked my slim up to the internet today using a different name to what i called my fat PS3. if i hook my fat PS3 up to the internet and sign in, can i recover that ID with the slim?

Well then your game saves still can be transferred via an external drive, your trophies are screwed as they are linked to your PSN ID. The PSN ID needs to be the same on both your Fatty and Slim.maf-me-quick wrote:my fat PS3's never been online, and i hooked my slim up to the internet today using a different name to what i called my fat PS3. if i hook my fat PS3 up to the internet and sign in, can i recover that ID with the slim?
You can still put your Fatty online.

You should still be able to sync your fat PS3's trophies online using your old PSN account though no? Then sign into it using your slim PS3?

he needs to be using the same PSN ID on his Slim that he is used on his Fatty to work. Which he is not.YoshiKart64 wrote:You should still be able to sync your fat PS3's trophies online using your old PSN account though no? Then sign into it using your slim PS3?

Re: PS3 ID Swap
well my slim was signed in as user 1. but since it's been off line and reading these posts i've changed the name of it to playtime. that's what i named my fat ps3. but the names not too important, right?
if i sign it in again, it'll still work because it's just the number code of that unit that's important...right?
so now if i sign in the fat one, having the same name, i'll be able to transfer trophies to the slim. or is it important which PS3 i logged on with first?
if all else fails, can i restore factory settings on the slim and start over?
sorry for all the questions but i got another one, why does my elite and ps3 slim both say "120g" and "250g" respectively, but i got less on there when i look at the memory? my ps3 for instance said there was only 235g before i even did any thing.

Re: PS3 ID Swap
All your trophies are for the Playtime ID, so the PSN ID you use on the Slim must be Playtime as well. If you want to use a different PSN ID on your Slim you have to start over with your trophies, but your game saves can be moved over to your slim via a USB stick.
Also did you get broadband setup at your place? I remember you telling me you used a Virgin USB dongle or something like that.
