 Yes I’m aware of that.

I don’t ask people to buy any game and know folks have different levels of finances. It worries me if you truly think I’m that naive about finances and stuff. People can spent their money how they like, but I’m still free to give recommendations over unloved games.

You mean like Maf though, surely?

I can’t compete with him in the slightest

Yeah but your arguing about opinion. You're wrong, I'm right and all that pointless shit. If you like it cool. Others think it's shit. General opinion is it's not so great and better things to play.

I played Metal Gear for other reasons than stealth or tight controls. Same engine but not the same game. I didn't even like MGSV all that much so your wasted there.

Like I mentioned; why would you play an 'average' game when there's better stiff to play? A lot of people have tight constraints time wise or financially so don't judge us as being fickle 'cause you got an agenda.

Now I'm going to poke fun at you forever for giving it a 9. Remember it's only fun :D

I don't think trusting reviews is being conditioned. It's just reviews + what I've seen of it + a dislike for survival games = nope.

And I was pretty bummed about by MGSV at first because it wasn't like the other games in the series. I actually came around on it in a big way because despite some short comings it is actually a really good stealth action game. There's some bullshit to it, sure, but. I liked it.

The issue I have is some of the 'others that think its shit' have written it off based on the general negativity surrounding the game thanks to the **** Konami crusaders. They haven't played the game themselves, and if you haven't played the game yourself then you can't give a true opinion on the game, you're just echoing others opinions and choosing to ignore the few that like the game.

I think fun games should be applauded, so called 'shit games' should be given a chance regardless of the hate mob. There are so many games I wouldn't of enjoyed if I'd of listened to the reviews and cancelled my pre-order - ME:A, Watch_Dogs, MGSU and Assassin's Creed Unity just being a select few over the years.

I've been there and done it. Seen review scores and said 'thank **** I didn't buy that', I did it just today with Bravo Team as I cancelled my pre-order on Sunday due to the smorgasbord of games towards the end of the month, but I still want to give it a try some time and see if I can gleam some fun from it.

Games should be about fun, joy and happiness...it's a hobby so you should enjoy it. If you don't, flip it on eBay the next day and get your money back. So many gamers are set in their ways and genres and I wish folks would experiment more because there's a lot of great games out there that they're missing out on for one reason or another.

I think though Blakey looking at the games you've mentioned there they seem to align with the kinds of things you are interested in anyway. They're all very big open-world games with run-times of about ~50 hours or so.

The thing for a lot of other people is they've got a good enough idea if they'd be down for a thing like that. I know that I would never enjoy plodding around Andromeda's world based on what I've gleamed of that game and Inquisition, the way that Bioware have made their RPGs into these big open content-driven things. I could be wrong but given that I grew tired of even the higher rated games in the AC and even ME series I would really be shocked if I could actually enjoy something like Unity or Andromeda. Because I know what I like and what I don't like and am relatively aware of what trends influenced their design from the outside looking in.

I'm not always correct on this. I did not play Breath of the Wild or buy a Switch last year because neither appealed. Also I had big outgoings in 2017 anyway. But the zeitgeist that grew around that game suggested that it wasn't like those other open-worlds that I'm not into. It became a zeitgeist that persisted, unlike Horizon Zero Dawn, and people kept on talking about it months and months after release. So that's why I relented in that case because it was obviously more than this currently fashionable thing and something which would have people talking about for years to come, perhaps.

Also the reason why I never bought Zero Dawn and never will even if it hits a fiver. Unless I get a HDR telly maybe and need a good showcase for it.

Otherwise if I were to pay attention to what the community of a game is saying each time I would probably buy everything and be disappointed by most of the stuff out there. Because no matter what the game you will find that it has its dedicated audiences. I know this because it's what I used to do and I just don't have this FOMO feeling with games anymore. Because to be quite honest even if a lot of people are genuine in their enthusiasm for Metal Gear Survive you also have the selection-bias of people who were always going to be bought into the survival aspect who are gushing about the game. While the people who will never be interested in survival games are not going to be part of that group no matter the controversial history of it. I know which group I fall into.

Also I really did not like Phantom Pain much.

£25 isn't even a trivial amount of money really, can feed yourself for a good few days on that.

Also I'm not averse to giving a game a shot even if it has a stinky metacritic score.

Just read the shite I posted on my Drakengard playthroughs. (Those games are real bad)

And the original Nier (that game is wonderful and I really think one of those games that people should definitely try).

21/01/18 - The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Xbox One X.

29/01/18 - Assassins Creed : Origins -Xbox One X.
04/02/18 - Alien : Isolation - PS4 Pro.
05/02/18 - Gears of War : Judgment - Xbox One X.
14/02/18 - Assassin's Creed : Origins - The Hidden Ones - Xbox One X.
18/02/18 - What Remains of Edith Finch - Xbox One X.
23/02/18 - Resident Evil 2 - PS Vita.
23/03/18 - Gears of War : Ultimate Edition - Xbox One X.
24/02/18 - Shadow of the Colossus - PS4 Pro.
25/02/18 - Rise of the Tomb Raider - Xbox One X.
11/03/18 - Fear Effect : Sedna - Xbox One X.

Not a game I can recommend, I'm afraid... the combat is pretty bad, insta death puzzles and poor acting. The cutscenes look nice though.
