We admire Criterion Games' dedication to its racer, Burnout Paradise. Countless updates have added tremendous value to the game, and on April 30, the next update will be rolled out for one and all to enjoy: Cops and Robbers.

a company spokesperson said no details on pricing are available right now. EA will reveal those details "soon."
This is the first DLC for the game that actually appeals to me. Not counting the Island expansion because we have no idea when that's coming out, or how much.

Our man on the street says that something big is brewing in Paradise City.

Following reports of increasing levels of criminal activity it looks like the Paradise City Police Department are preparing a massive operation to move the Paradise gold reserves to a safer location.

The criminal underworld is said to be a hive of activity following these startling revelations.

Sources close to the PCPD have revealed that a call has gone out to global police forces to come to their assistance.

Everything will come to a head this Thursday when the Cops and Robbers Pack for Burnout Paradise will be available for $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 / 800MS from an in-game Burnout Store near you.

Be ready people, Paradise City will never be the same again.

Above taken from the criterion website. Really looking forward to this update. I imagine the debate about the pricing will be re-opened especially a week after Left 4 Dead adds a new game mode for free.

Criterion Twitters a big reveal for tomorrow at 4pm (BST).

Not being very cryptic, the UK-based developer said, "Almost time to spill the beans.. be watching CriterionGames.com at 4pm BST this Friday. Your questions will be answered..."

The only question we have is 'when will we see a Black sequel?'. But we doubt that'll get answered tomorrow. We're looking forward to seeing a new part of Paradise though.

Criterion today announced that Big Surf Island, the first piece of Burnout Paradise DLC to bring new land to the open-world racer, will hit PS3 and Xbox 360 on June 11.

Still no word as to how much the download--billed by the developer as the "culmination of everything we learned creating Paradise City."--will cost or when it will hit the PC.
Video in the link.

I think the island expansion could be really cool but it'll be interesting to see how much it is after the other recent paid content.

I think what criterion has done with DLC is really to be commended in terms of the amount of content they gave away for free but if the paid content ends up adding up to more than a new game then it will seem a bit odd really.

Burnout Paradise Big Surf Island up on Live.

You'll need to download the 1.9 game update first (1.2GB):

And then the unlock key:

To clarify just put your Burnout disc into the 360 and the option to download will appear ... 1.2 GB though!!!!
Downloading now!!

ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! stopped after 19% and now wont le me re-download!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh ... working now.
right onto the surf!!! :)
In surf city now - £8.50 but worth it - bit small though!!! (kinda expensive but getting the bikes for free earlier means I'm prepared to let it slide).

For anyone who wasn't aware once you download one of these massive updates you can then delete any previous ones off your hard drive

e.g. download 1.9 today and then you can delete 1.8, 1.7, 1.6 etc (if you haven't already). I wouldn't delete anything other than 1.x updates though.

Really enjoying this so far. The island is a reasonable size and very densely packed with a lot more verticality (for want of a better word) than a lot of paradise city. More cars, more places to drive, more events, more challenges, I cant fault it to be honest.

With all this burnout love maybe I should write it up in the thread about why you should play this game

Don't want to pony up the $8 to download Burnout Paradise's premium "Legendary" cars? Well, here's a cheaper alternative: buy Big Surf Island for $13, as it includes special toy versions of all four DLC cars.

You can get a cute mini version of the hovering 88 Special, Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and GT Nighthawk by completing various tasks around the new Burnout island.
Info about them tasks in the link.
