Especially with there now being so few of us here. I ignored the first Police game but will check that one out now hearing it has that turn based combat.

Yeah our limited numbers do mean making a thread for every game feel rather silly, so I do think condensing under a theme or game representative of its genre useful.

I suppose it started with the game announcement threads, I've posted page after page of PS4 games with not one reply but with themes at least you know if a new post is up it has that type of gameplay at its core.

So far we have....

MMORPG : Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. : any MMO news just disappears in the gaming news titbit thread as Bilge and Dwarf (the only fans of the genre ) rarely post there.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Thread : should such a specific games series be broken up into separate threads, I don't see it really and the same can be said of the Yakuza thread as well as I don't see the point of putting the new Fist of the North Star game in a thread of its own either given that its really just Yakuza with different graphics.

Retro Gaming : Plug N' Play. : though this started out as just about the mini consoles i come across retro news now and again (pre-PS3 to my mind) that i don't think fits anywhere else really, take this story of a new Spectrum 48K game...

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=38505&start=60#p598121

I thought it interesting of more note than just being dumped in the titbits thread, but maybe that's just my rose tinted glasses of my Speccy days taking over.

We have Turn Based of course, again with only a few fans.

Brexit the Donald and the New Puritans: Doomed, we're all Doomed : though this has morphed beyond its original purpose i don't see the rant thread as the proper place for much of the news and thoughts i post here.

Survival Games. : again a very niche sub set of games, but still worthy of note i think.

Heavy Metal Heaven : Big BadaBoom. yeah wasn't sure what happened here, it started out a love letter to a weird Japanese game but now encompasses any game with vehicles be it tanks or giant robots, probably need to be put down for its own good at some point :(

Street Fighter V : The Fighters thread. : well as the seminal fighting game i think any fighting games news needs to go where it fits best and with a simple renaming nuff said.

Disaster games : City Shrouded in Shadow :  of come on this ones clever given that Shadowman is the only fan of this very niche type of game.

Bit of a write up for Mutant Year in the most recent GamesTM issue. Really keen on this now. Played very few good non xcom style games. Wasteland 2 probably the only good one.

Awesome! I loved the first Disgaea. The sequels got a bit too complicated with too many systems. The first had the right balance for me

Genre-blending’ tactical RPG Iron Danger announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Trailer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9pjRMj6VEg

streamlined, action-packed single-player game in which repetitive grinding is kept to a minimum and every moment advances the story. The player controls Kipuna and one of two individual companion characters in tactically challenging battles against a variety of different threats. At center stage in combat is the unique time shifting mechanic that represents Kipuna’s magical influence over the flow of time. It gives the player the ability to rewind at any point with fraction-of-a-second precision, pinpointing strikes to enemies’ unguarded moments, deflecting and dodging attacks exactly when they happen, synchronizing magical and physical attacks to overwhelm difficult enemies, and overcoming impossible odds through trial and error.

Iron Danger challenges you to think of combat and puzzles from a different perspective: you may be an experienced gamer, who knows all the tricks, but you’ve never played a game like this.

The Story

Kipuna, a frail village girl, is forced to escape from her home. She stumbles upon a mystical crystal shard, which impales her but also gives her the ability to control time itself. In this trailblazing adventure packed with action, the player and the group of unsung heroes must use their wits as they’re drawn into the midst of a war between the city of Kalevala, ruled by an immortal, who has renounced the gods, and the armies of the Northlanders driven by their Witch Queen. When the enemies will seek to harness the power of the mystical element for the service of total destruction, the player’s task is to seek all the missing shards in order to use it for mankind’s protection.

Iron Danger is set in a world of lofty fells, primeval forest, and placid lakes… as well as living gods, monsters of steel and smoke, and supernatural doom dwelling beneath the ground. The magical city of Kalevala, shines in the middle of this world, surrounded by towns, rivers and and woodlands under its protection. But from the desolate North, a Witch Queen is leading her dark army on a quest for vengeance against the lords of Kalevala.

Key Features
•Use unique time-rewind mechanics and experience totally new take on tactical combat and puzzles.
•Enter into deep tactical combat with simultaneous turns and take advantage of highly interactive environment to succeed.
•Adventure in a world of steampunk fantasy and meet it’s unique inhabitants inspired by Nordic mythos and folktales.
•Fight epic boss monsters on the path to fulfill your destiny.
•No grinding. Character development is tied to actions that player characters will take.

Hope this means the XCOM 2 expansion dlc will get a price drop. Really want to play it, just a bit too minty for my liking.
