I think going for a gritty realistic approach story wise was a mistake. Even trying to focus on a story fullstop. Not just for the dissonance factor we've been going over, its all the little things. Using Uncharted as an example it's very focused. It helps the narrative. In a game where your trying to give a sense of urgency to a plot, like you've got to get somewhere it doesn't help when Lara/game player can get distracted pissing about in tombs and collecting bits.

"Yeah, be there in a minute"

This metroidvania thing aswell. It's like don't you remember last time Lara. Why didn't she bring her rope axe thing or her bow n arrow. Basics that help her get around. Over encumbrance? Doesn't seem to hinder her carrying all the shit she carries that affects her agility not one ounce. Drake only needs monkey skills. Carries only two weapons which he picks up on the fly. Which Lara can't seem to do. It just feels a bit...forced. Just to have this metroidvania element.

I dunno. To me Lara was confident, calculated, prepared. All things I don't get with this Lara. She feels half cocked and a bit bumbly.

I like this game and i do like this version of Lara but I would do it differently.

Well I finished this in the early hours of this morning.
Totally enjoyed it, even if there was too much Snow imo

Played on Survivor difficulty, but didn't break a sweat and the challenge was far less than Uncharted 4 on hard.

They're my only gripe points, it's a gorgeous game, I took loads of screenshots and Lara is an excellent all round character, I like her a lot.

Also lots of depth to this game with not only all the different weapons but also the upgrading of them, the character upgrades, the crafting, secret items, tombs, challenge modes and then DLC.....

I'd definitely say Tomb Raider is back to its best after the last two TR games, really looking forward to the (inevitable?) next installment :D And tbh, I think it's now reached the 'Day One' group for me, which is rarely handed out by me :)

Obviouly now just the Trophy mop up left.....

Oh you'll enjoy that... It pretty much doubles the length of the game if you're after the platinum.

I think it's a good set tbh, I'm guessing the Challenge mode Trophies are the ones that take the time?

Yeah, it's virtually replaying the game without the hub areas ... One tip, Poison Arrows are god mode..

Yeah definitely, I used them quite a bit when playing normally - you don't even need to hit a target :)
Shame you can't carry more than 2.

I didn't actually. But then, the difficulty wasn't challenging enough to warrant such tactics :)

This what I'm saying. There's so many options in this game and when you get in to your groove you won't use half of them. Maybe it changes on higher difficulty, but honestly I think some more creative set up is required more than it just being harder. Shame they saved a lot of that for the challenge mode (At least I'm assuming they did only played a little of it)

I think it could've done with more enemies tbh.
Out of the two, the two being Uncharted 4 and ROTTR, I think Uncharted is the better all round game.
I really can't fault Uncharted 4, I think it's just an amazing video game.
Tomb Raider is fantastic as well and is so close but a few nit picks just puts it under UC4
Mind you, Naughty Dog have had a good 12yrs to refine their series, whereas Crystal Dynamics are less than half that*
I'm sure the next Lara game will be a up there with Drake and his finest :)

*the new TR games

Easiest way to get golds on the challenge stages are to go into the leaderboards find someones setup that suits (preferably with Poison Arrows) and buy that, it's cheap as **** and a damn sight easier than trying to get the actual card you need with random luck.
