But video games describe things as dice rolls sometimes. I’m asking in video game terms is a dice roll the same as RNG.

Like X-Com. If you have 75% chance to hit, and you miss, dice roll or RNG or is it the same thing?

Dice roll === RNG

It's a figure of speech. Comes from D&D

Like when you 'roll a character' in WoW or Skyrim. You don't pick up the Playstation and roll it around :lol:

Well you got a 16.6% chance to roll a 6 from a dice roll. Depends what you're after. A percentage is a figure to work from. Problem with RNG is you generally don't know what you've got to work with sometimes.

But in your example it's kinda obvious. Although I call bullshit on X-Com :x

You probably never played Fire Emblem if you think that X-Com percentage if off.

20% hit chance and 3% chance of a critical hit? Yeah, better get ready to get hit by the critical hit.

I'm a Fire Emblem Master I'll have you know. The probabilities were also bullshit in that but not to the regularity of X-Com in my personal experience. That or I'm just too good to notice 8)

I never knew MGS5 ran at 60. Goes to show how much I really notice stuff like that. I only played it for a 170 hours

Fuk I forgot to buy Nex Machina

Then I personally blame you for this move. Probably. Maybe. Maybe not.

Nex Machina is pretty much one of the best games of the year that next to no one seems to be playing. Its pretty much the best twin stick shooter released, incredibly fast paced and oh so addictive. Matterfall on the otherwise was just good - it felt rushed since it has some awful load times and fewer levels compared to any other House Marque game I've played. Plus the hardest difficulty option on Matterfall was badly thought out within the constraints of the game, just felt like too much of a chore playing it that way.

My favourite line on the Bombcast this week about Nintendo was “Ever since they stopped using blocks and moved to megabytes they forgot how to have fun”

I don’t know why but it made me laugh

The last Hoursemarque game I bought was Resogun so I'm partially to blame. I was a big fan of their last-gen efforts (mostly Stardust and Outland) but as I really dislike playing on PS4 and them being pretty much exclusive Sony-developers at this point I didn't really care much about the four (?) games released since Resogun. Nex Machina is probably a game I'd enjoy but I can't be bothered playing a twinstick shooter with the Dualshock. Not to mention I have a backlog of a bazillion games already.

Check out the time I made that post

Coincidence? Or perhaps a cosmic revelation?
